Borderlands 4: Release Date, Trailers, Platforms, and Everything We Know

Borderlands 4 is coming soon and fans can’t wait to get their hands on this iconic looter shooter. After critics and fans were disappointed by the Borderlands movie, this is the game they need to forget that mess. Luckily, everything fans have seen thus far has been to their liking, so that’s an immediate plus for this upcoming sequel.

From new gameplay elements to even better visuals, there’s a reason why fans love going back to these titles. The addictive looter shooter element is done well here, with fans loving all of the content they can get in these games. If its predecessors are anything to go by, players are hoping that this entry also has a ton of content in it.

Release Date

Thanks to the recent Sony State of Play, we know that this looter shooter will be coming out on September 23, 2025. While that’s still a bit far off, fans can rest well knowing that it will come out later this year. Expect this shooter to be a popular pick during the holidays, given how beloved previous installments were.

Platforms

It looks like Borderlands 4 will be a current-gen exclusive, as the looter shooter will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Developer Gearbox Software probably wants to take advantage of these consoles and their power, so sticking with current-gen hardware is a good move. Only time will tell if this eventually comes to last-gen hardware, but we don’t think that’s the case.

Fans can also check out the game’s latest trailer from State of Play below, showing off new gameplay mechanics and gorgeous visuals. This is also where the game’s release date was first revealed, telling fans when they will be able to pick up the shooter. Needless to say, the excitement is at an all-time high.

Editions

At the time of writing, no special editions for Borderlands 4 have been revealed. While the game will likely get various editions, as is tradition with AAA games, Gearbox will reveal them when ready.
