An expansion that promises just as many questions as answers, the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is creeping closer to its release date, which is set for this June.
The expansion was first revealed via a tweet from developer FromSoftware on February 28, 2023. Just like the original game, players will explore a vast, dark fantasy world of mystery, seeking to uncover the perilous Land of Shadow.
Players will once more take up the role of the Tarnished, a maidenless figure that, alongside other Tarnished, had made their way back into the Lands Between to seek out the Elden Ring and, thus, become The Elden Lord.

When is the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree release date?
Players can expect Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree to be released on June 21, 2024 -- more than a year since it was first teased.
The original game was released on February 25, 2022, making its expansion a long time coming. Even so, this new DLC will no doubt bring just as much excitement.
What is the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree price?
Previously, speculation put the price at between $20 and $40. However, it has now been confirmed that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will cost £34 for UK gamers, and $40 for players in the US.
What is in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will feature an all-new story set in The Land of Shadow. Players should expect mysterious (and dangerous) dungeons, new anatomically questionable enemies, as well as sleuths of weapons, equipment, and more. We won't say no to more magic and/or magic types!
As The Land of Shadow is a separate entity to The Lands Between, players will need to warp to get there. The size of the map has also been openly speculated about. However, thanks to an IGN interview, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki seemingly answered that question by comparing the map of the expansion to that of the base game.
"It's hard to answer without giving away too much and to a high degree of accuracy, but if you think in terms of scale or size, it's probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave from the base game." Miyazaki told IGN.
As for the story, it seemingly follows the goddess Marika as well as Miquella, and considering the Erdtree featured in the cover art is bleeding gold, which may mean that this is a post-destruction story that happens after the endings in the base game. There has also been art that showcases a Torent-like horse being ridden by an unknown character, which has been confirmed to be Miquella.
In fact, players will be following in Miquella's footsteps and trying to see what he's going to do in this strange land. As for Queen Marika, what has she done to The Land of Shadow, and why has Miquella followed her there? These questions will all be answered in the expansion.
