Hades 2 latest news

After the incredible success of Hades, Supergiant Games decided to continue the series with a sequel. However, don't assume it will be the same game with a slightly different story. Even the main character will be different, although she will be related to Zagreus and Hades.

In Hades 2, you will play as Melinoë. She is the immortal princess of the underworld, just like Zagreus. She's also a real character from Greek mythology. We're really impressed by how the developers have embraced Greece and its mythology. They not only show popular Gods such as Zeus or Poseidon, but also lesser-known ones.

For the underworld roguelike sequel, Supergiant Games has chosen the chthonic goddess Melinoë, who is the daughter of Hades and is said to bring nightmares and madness to mortals. Supergiant Games used all available knowledge about it in their new title. For example, in one of the translations of the Orphic Hymns, Melinoë is described as a moon goddess.

Hades 2 plot news

In Hades 2, you will have to help Melinoë defeat Chronos, the Titan of Time. Of course, it will be a difficult task, because no one knows if it is even possible to overcome Time. Even though Hades 2 is a continuation of the original game, players not familiar with the series will still be able to play it without any problems. According to the developers, the game will be both a standalone title and a sequel, with some references to the original game.

Also, Supergiant Games wants to listen to the opinion of their fans during the creation of Hades 2. Therefore, the first version of the game will be released in early access, and everyone will be able to influence the final result. Developers have not given the exact release date for early access, but we expect it sometime in 2023.

It is also worth noting that the game will be available in early access only for PC users. Luckily, Supergiant Games has stated that it plans to release the finished game for both PC and consoles, just like the original.

Of course, the most important part everyone is interested in is the gameplay in Hades 2. Judging by the trailer, we are expecting to see the familiar random-generated dungeons with many enemies. To overcome all these difficulties, Melinoë, like Zagreus, will accept gifts from the Gods of Olympus. However, it seems that the new heroine will use different magic for battles.

What we'd love to see in Hades 2

The original Hades game turned out really good. We expect that this is far from the limit of what Supergiant Games can do. Hades 2 has every chance of becoming the new hit of 2023. We have a few ideas that we would like to see in the upcoming game.

Even more uniqueness

First, you might think Hades is a typical roguelike dungeon in which you will die endlessly from various enemies and bosses. You'd be right, but only partially. Supergiant Games did a great job developing the story and presenting it to players. Each of your deaths will open thousands of dialogues paths with different characters. The further you progress in each run, the more you will learn about the daily lives of the underworld inhabitants. We hope to see even more of this in the sequel.

Multiplayer

Of course, Hades is incredibly fun to play solo, as each action reveals new plot details. But we think it would be cool to try your luck in escaping the underworld with a friend in the late game. Now that Zagreus' sister is coming, it's a great opportunity to add this feature. Just imagine how fun it would be playing brother and sister, fighting shoulder-to-shoulder.

More bosses

There are already many bosses in the original Hades game. But it would be cool if we were able to encounter more bosses in each region that spawn randomly or after certain conditions. Of course, as long as it doesn't interfere with the storytelling.

Improved storytelling

As we said above, Supergiant Games skilfully combined a deep plot with roguelike gameplay. It would be great if it made the storytelling in Hades 2 even better. For example, Supergiant could add more animated cutscenes or dialogue choices.

More gods

In Hades, we met many of the main gods of Olympus and their offspring. However, gods such as Hera, Hestia, or Hephaestus did not appear. We hope to see them in Hades 2, especially Hephaestus, who is perfect for the role of a blacksmith and would be able to upgrade our character's weapons.

Companions

Whether it is escaping the underworld or fighting a Titan, it is a heavy burden for you alone to take on. So why not take a companion with you? It could be some kind of animal or creature of the underworld. Summoning companions would definitely complement the game, since Melinoë can use magical abilities in Hades 2.

That's all we know so far about the development of Hades 2. As soon as there are new details from the developers, we will immediately inform you. While you are still here, make sure to check our list of the best free strategy games!
