Monster Hunter Wilds Release Date Estimate

Already, we know that Monster Hunter Wilds will be released sometime in 2025, as revealed in the game's release trailer at The Game Awards 2023. There isn't currently an exact release date for the game, but we'll update this guide as soon as one is announced.

However, if we had to speculate on a release date estimate for Monster Hunter Wilds, we would say sometime in mid 2025. Looking at the previous release dates for the Monster Hunter series, the majority of them launch during June or July.

Again, this is speculation and we'll update our hub with the official release date when it becomes available.

Monster Hunter Wilds Platforms

Capcom has confirmed the platforms we can expect to see Monster Hunter Wilds on, with it coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).

Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch players look set to miss out on Monster Hunter Wilds as well as players on old-generation consoles, with their hardware unable to keep up with the demands of the game.

Monster Hunter Wilds Trailer

Overall, there have been three different trailers highlighting Monster Hunter Wilds.

In the reveal trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, shown at The Game Awards 2023, we get a look at the player weaving between different beasts on the back of their companion, who bears a strong reminiscence to a Chocobo from the Final Fantasy series.

What's been pointed out by many Monster Hunter veterans is the level of detail and quality of the environments on show in the reveal trailer. Compared to previous Monster Hunter games, explorable locations appear radically more dynamic and variable.

Since The Game Awards 2023, there have been two other trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds. The first appeared during the May 2024 PlayStation State of Play, where fans got to see some of the larger world that they'll be exploring at release, with new and familiar monsters, as well as the cast of characters that'll be joining the player on their journey.

The dynamic environment was also teased, with a rolling sandstorm and thunder and lightning having a direct affect on the monsters and setting around the player character. One of the biggest reveals was a glance at a new monster, which had a bear/lion like appearance that made it stand out.

The third and last trailer was revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2024 stream. It explored the cinematic and immersive story of the Hunter, the player character, and their role in the story of Monster Hunter Wilds. What stood out with this trailer in particular was we got to hear the Hunter's voice for the first time ever in the game series.[

Monster Hunter Wilds Cross-Play

Monster Hunter Wilds looks to be the biggest game of the series yet, so it's understandable players are wondering if it'll have cross-play. The answer? A resounding yes.

Releasing on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, Monster Hunter Wilds will allow players to team up with their friends no matter what platform they're playing on.

Monster Hunter Wilds Gameplay

Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay is a mixture of action-adventure, crafting, and exploration -- with a variety of new features added in such as its dynamic weather and increased monster density.

As expected, Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay will mostly surround around combat, exploration and crafting, whether that be an armour or a tasty new meal to give you that extra boost in battle.

The Hunter also has mounts this time around, which can seemingly play a part in combat against more lively enemies. It's the first time that mounts have been used in such a way, and it's an intriguing first step for Monster Hunter Wilds overall. That said, Monster Hunter Wilds isn't open world, so exploration will not be as vast as the trailers make it out to be.

With combat, Monster Hunter Wilds takes on the 'more is better' approach, as it has done so with previous iterations. All of the base weapons will be included in the game, which are:

  • Charge Blade
  • Dual Blades
  • Great Sword
  • Gunlance
  • Hammer
  • Heavy Bowgun
  • Hunting Horn
  • Insect Glaive
  • Lance
  • Light Bowgun
  • Long Sword
  • Switch Axe
  • Sword & Shield
