When is the Overwatch 2 season 2 release date?
Overwatch 2 season 2 will release on December 6, 2022. That's the date provided in the official Overwatch 2 roadmap, and as such is the perfect start point for season 2.

Blizzard has officially confirmed this release date for Overwatch 2 season 2. Equally, the in-game countdown ends in the second week of December, making it inevitable that we'll get the new season by then. Blizzard wouldn't want a period of time without a season live, so the new content drop will be there by that point.
What is included in Overwatch 2 season 2?
The main addition in Overwatch 2 season 2 is a new tank Hero called Ramattra. As per Blizzard, he "can completely change forms as part of his core kit, altering his abilities and playstyle moment to moment."
As first reported by Dexerto, Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller has already shared a few details about the new tank hero. In an interview during the Overwatch League competition, Keller confirmed it is "someone that players have seen before." Expect a familiar face, whoever it is!
On top of that, there's a new Escort map called Shambali Monastery coming. Canonically it's the original home of Zenyatta and Ramattra.
You can also expect a bunch of new skins for existing Heroes, all based around Greek mythology. The top reward of the premium battle pass is Zeus Junker Queen, and you can also get Legendary Poseidon Ramattra and Legendary Hades Pharah as you level up. This is alongside a limited-time mode called Battle for Olympus, which arrives on January 5.
Do I need the Overwatch 2 season 2 battle pass?
Of course, the big change in Overwatch 2 is its free-to-play model. Despite this, you'll still need to fork out some money to purchase the battle pass and access all of the rewards along the progression tree. For reference, it costs 1,000 Overwatch Coins. That's the equivalent to $10 or £8.39.
If you have the season 1 battle pass, there's a good chance you won't need to spend extra for the new season, given the Overwatch Coins you earn naturally through progression. If not though, you'll need to spend cash - though expect the new hero and map to be free to all players regardless.
That's it for our look at Overwatch 2 season 2! As soon as we learn more about the upcoming content drop, we'll update this hub. Until then, feel free to check out our tier list for the game so far, as well as how to change the crosshair.
