The release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is right around the corner, and like with most games, it's going to be receiving a day one patch! We have the information around the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet patch notes, as it's crucial to pick up patches to experience the game in full.
This patch will be required regardless of the version of the game that you are playing, and will be applicable to both physical and digital downloads of the game. The update is roughly about 1GB is size, so it's not a massively content-heavy additions patch, but it's important nonetheless.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet version 1.1.0 patch notes
This patch is a fairly important one as the games work towards a slightly better state of performance than their launch versions. However, don't expect all the problems to be instantly ironed out in 1.1.0. This patch releases on December 2, 2022. Here are all the changes:
- Following the start of Ranked Battles season 1, you can now enjoy Ranked Battles from the Battle Stadium.Please check the in-game notice for more details about Ranked Battles Season 1.
- An issue has been fixed that caused the music to not play correctly during the battles with the Elite Four and the Top Champion in the Victory Road path.
- Various other issues have also been fixed.
- We are thankful that Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are being played by so many consumers, but we are also aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologise for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously, and are working on improvements to the games.
How do I get the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet day one patch?
In order to download the patch, it's fairly straight forward. If the game doesn't ask for you to download the patch automatically upon starting the game for the first time, you can follow these steps to check and force the download.
- Make sure that your Nintendo Switch is connected to the Internet.
- Hover over Pokemon Scarlet / Violet
- Press the + / - button on your controller
- Select "Software Update"
- Select "From the Internet"
This should prompt an update if there are any available. After the update has downloaded, you should be able to load into the game with the updated features.
