Looking for The Finals' release date? In this guide, we'll be going through everything we know about the upcoming release of The Finals, including information on the game's release date and a breakdown of the game's trailer. We'll also be revealing the different game modes and maps that we know will be included in the game's launch.
The Finals promises to be a free-to-play, team-based, first-person shooter that pushes environmental dynamism and destruction to the limits. With its massively dynamic maps, which boast server-side destruction mechanics, The Finals appears to be a very technically impressive game with a huge amount of potential.
Additionally, the game is pitched as a more casual, arcade-y game than other extraction shooters, such as Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, with Embark clearly hoping to appeal to a wider audience.
The Finals release date
The Finals released on December 7, 2023, so if you haven't already, you can check the game out right now.
The Finals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and on PC via Steam. Unfortunately, owners of the older-generation Xbox One and PS4 won't be able to play The Finals, with the games exclusively on the latest generation of consoles.
The Finals trailer
In The Finals trailer, we get a sense of the style and energy we can expect from this FPS. Straight from the off, the 'Insert Coin' screen sets out the game's arcade-like aesthetic, which is further exemplified by characters crumbling into coins upon their death.
The Finals' artistic style is somewhat reminiscent of Sega's recently-canceled FPS Hyenas, which similarly put players into teams of three to battle it out in an arena setting. However, The Finals will be hoping that its dynamic destruction technology will be able to set it apart from other competitors in the FPS scene, a feature that is also shown frequently throughout the trailer.
Also, in The Finals' trailer, we get a chance to look at some of the weaponry that may be available when The Finals releases. A huge array of weapons and equipment are showcased in the trailer, including flamethrowers, sledgehammers, turrets, rocket launchers, and shield projectors.
You can watch the trailer for The Finals' open beta, which you can play right now. You'll get a glimpse of the game's highly realistic destruction mechanics and rapid gunplay.
Everything we know about The Finals
The Finals' premise is that you play as a contestant in 'The Finals' - the ultimate combat entertainment game show. You and your team fight for fame, riches, and the favor of generous seasonal sponsors. The game will feature a host of cosmetics available to players, as well as seasonal battle passes.
In the game, contestants and showrunners all join The Finals using VR technology. Contestants are largely unknown before they compete; fame comes with being on and winning the game show. Embark has emphasized that The Finals is more than a shooter but is what they call a "hero builder," where players have the freedom to "choose who you want to be and how you want to play".
The Finals game modes
Currently, there are five confirmed game modes for The Finals. All of their names and details are included in our list below. Some modes are known as 'Cashout' modes, which means that they are one of the core extraction shooter game modes.
- Bank-It - Four teams of three battle it out for coins in this casual-friendly, combat-focused mode. The team that reaches the max limit first, or the team with the most cash banked at the end of the round, wins.
- Unranked Tournament - A Cashout mode where four teams of three compete to find cashboxes and deposit them in vaults in an unranked tournament format, with three rounds and 24 players in total.
- Ranked Tournament - A Cashout mode with four teams of three in a ranked tournament format, with four rounds and 48 players in total.
- Quick Cash - A casual-friendly variant of Cashout in a 3v3v3 format. This mode has longer matches, faster respawn timers, faster extraction times, and only one vault is present on the map at a time.
- Practice Range - A place for contestants to test weapons, gadgets, movement, and destruction.
The Finals maps
