With the long-awaited release of Tower of Fantasy right around the corner, a specific Tower of Fantasy console release date still hasn't been shared. The game is coming to PC and mobile in August 2022, leaving console fans of the open-world anime RPG genre a little lost and confused. Here's what we know.
It's never an easy subject to cover with a big new game on the horizon decides to skip out on a certain platform. Exclusives have always been a thing, but releasing on multiple platforms but avoiding three of the biggest leads to confusion, frustration, and alienation. And that's what's going on here.
Looking to get stuck in at launch? Our Tower of Fantasy patch notes are worth a look. Similarly, the Tower of Fantasy codes page should get you some freebies at launch as well. And if you're not sold on it just yet, maybe the Tower of Fantasy characters page will help.
When is the Tower of Fantasy console release date?
A Tower of Fantasy console release date isn't looking likely right now.
That doesn't necessarily mean that a console version won't release after the global launch on PC and mobile, but you could be waiting a while to play the game if you can't use one of the available platforms at launch.
Back in April, the developers confirmed on Twitter that there "is currently no plan to release the game on console in the near future..."
Citing a focus on the global launch of the PC and mobile versions, the developer didn't outright refuse to work on a console version, suggesting they'll let people know if they greenlight it in the future, but the tweet more or less confirms that work hasn't even started on a port.
Which consoles would Tower of Fantasy release on?
It's hard to say which platforms a Tower of Fantasy console port could release on. It's closest competitor, Genshin Impact, has released on PS4/5, PC, and Mobile. A Nintendo Switch version was announced years back now, and although we still have yet to see any evidence of it, the developers regularly state that it hasn't been cancelled. Xbox, on the other hand, is something that's never spoken about.
With that in mind, it's really too difficult to say with any level of certainty. Unless a console manufacturer strikes a deal with the developer to fund its creation, an eventual Tower of Fantasy console port could theoretically work on any platform right now. If it can run on an iPhone 7, it can probably run on a Nintendo Switch.
