It Takes Two has won the coveted Game of the Year award during The Game Awards 2021. Following a 3 week voting period once nominations opened, that follows on from The Last of Us: Part II, which took home the prize for 2020's ceremony.
During tonight's event, It Takes Two faced strong opposition in 2021's category, going up against Deathloop, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Resident Evil Village. It also took home Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer Game during the show.

It Takes Two wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021
Accepting this award was Josef Fares, Game Director at Hazelight Studios. Making a short statement with some casual swearing, he told viewers:
I was up on that stage, 2017 saying, ‘f**k the Oscars’ and now, actually in a way the Oscars got f***ed because The Game Awards is getting way better.
