Final Fantasy is an anthology series, with primary instalments being stand-alone role-playing games. Each game has different settings, characters, and plots that pit good against evil.

However, the real gems of the series are the mini-games, which are not just a distraction but a full-blown addiction. These mini-games, scattered throughout the series, are so engaging that they can easily steal hours of your time, providing a welcome break from the main quest.

These mini-games, from racing to card games to sports games, showcase the series' diverse activities. Some are great, and others are legendary.

So, get ready for the five most addictive Final Fantasy mini-games that you can't miss.

The piano is a recurring element in the Final Fantasy series. Players can usually play this instrument with individual keys like the real thing.

However, it is distinctive in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Scattered throughout the game, players can play any song they find the sheet music for.

If they know the keys, they can even play it fully independently. Music lovers will love this mini-game.

Side note: Although many believe this is a new addition to Rebirth, it briefly appeared in the original FF7.

It can be found inside Tifa’s bedroom, where she plays the piano that unlocks her final Limit Break.

Tetra Master is a card game in Final Fantasy IX inspired by the success of Final Fantasy VIII’s Triple Triad. Instead of developing a second version, Square Enix created a new card-based mini-game that players could enjoy.

Tetra Master is played on a four-by-four grid where cards with contrasting values battle.

With over a hundred unique cards in the FFIX universe, it’s easy to become addicted to collecting cards and playing matches.

Dancing is probably the funniest mini-game in the entire Final Fantasy series. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cloud enters the Honeybee Inn after getting a dress for Aerith.

He’s then ushered on stage to perform a dance number with Andrea Rhodea, who owns the establishment.

If players fail this mini-game, Cloud will still dance. It is relatively easy, but the music and visuals are incredibly entertaining.

Sadly, this can only be played in Chapter 9, though players can always return for a bit of fun.

Of course, if Tetra Master makes it on the list, Triple Triad does, too. Card games have been some of the franchise's most popular and entertaining mini-games.

Designed by the prolific Final Fantasy developer and director Hiroyuki Ito, it’s easy to see why it has become a big reason VIII is fondly remembered.

It plays out on a three-by-three game grid where players battle with five cards a piece to capture other players’ cards.

With the popularity of Triple Triad, Bandai even created limited copies of a physical version in Japan.

Players who want to distract themselves from the threat of Sin can enjoy the mini-game Blitzball in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.

This aquatic mini-game pits two teams of six against each other. Each team tries to get the blitzball through the opposition’s goal.

Though it looks simple, it makes players put in some serious work to master. Creating a team by recruiting NPCs found throughout Spira makes this mini-game extra fun.

Players can also give their allies special abilities to help them score better or break through the opposition.

This mini-game comes with earnable high-level items and ability rewards to make it more enjoyable.
