Final Fantasy has numerous sidequests that players can take. Though optional, these non-storyline objectives have been predominant throughout the game series.
Sidequests involve a series of minor or inconsequential events, ranging from small ones to travelling vast worlds.
Players can do errands, find items, or fight super bosses here. As they progress through the game, more sidequests become available.
They can obtain powerful magic, summons, or equipment or learn mysteries about the game and the world as a reward.
So, here are the eight hidden adventures players need to experience in Final Fantasy.
Chocobo Hot and Cold – Final Fantasy IX
Chocobo Hot and Cold is both a side quest and a minigame in Final Fantasy IX.
It’s regarded as the biggest sidequest in the game, as the player has to explore several locations across the world map. The rewards are worth it, though.
Players can unveil numerous new locations and items. As the minigame expands and grows, they can also obtain the Ultima Weapon.
The minigame appears in two forms: in chocobo forests and on the world map.
Though it takes a significant chunk of the game, this side quest is worth it.
Battle on the Big Bridge – Final Fantasy XII
Players up for a big challenge can face Gilgamesh in the Final Fantasy XII sidequest, Battle on the Bridge.
A recurring boss in the franchise, he’s feared for being a duelist and sword collector. He uses weapons from various Final Fantasy games and Dragon Quest.
In this quest, players battle Gilgamesh several times. When defeated, the villain flees, giving him time to grab the Sword of Legend.
Players can also see Cloud Strife’s Buster Sword, Squall Leonhart’s Revolver, and Odin’s Zantetsuken in his collection.
If they win this battle, they can get Gigalmesh’s latest prize. But if they fail, their weapons are forfeited.
Obtaining The Magus Sisters – Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X has several sidequests that are both great and modest. However, though some are bad, obtaining the Magus Sisters is worth the while.
But before players can obtain the Magus Sisters, they must unlock Yojimbo and Anima first and acquire all the fiends on Mount Gagazet for the Blossom Crown.
Obtaining the Magus Sisters is part of the Remiem Temple sidequest and through challenging Belgemine during the last battle.
Once players have obtained the Magus Sisters as an aeon, they will receive the Delta Attack! Trophy and use them in a battle or the powerful trio’s attacks.
Uncovering Vincent Valentine – Final Fantasy VII
A former Turk with a mysterious past, Vincent Valentine is one of the best characters in Final Fantasy VII. But he can’t be obtained easily.
Players must uncover him by unlocking a safe, leading them to a challenging boss battle, Lost Number.
The enemy can be stopped using Stop Magic and slowed down through Aerith’s Seal Evil and Choco/Mog.
After receiving the basement key reward and Odin Materia, they can use the key to open Vincent’s chambers in the basement.
Talk to the coffin where he rests, and if he says he will go back to sleep, leave him. He will later come out to join the party.
Find Different Characters in The World of Ruin – Final Fantasy VI
The entire World of Ruin is a gigantic side quest in Final Fantasy VI. Players can do whatever they think is necessary before exploring the final dungeon.
So, if they want company, they can find Celes, Sabin, Edgar, and Setzer in the Kefka Tower and face the final boss.
They can also find a couple of optional characters, Gogo and Umaro, who have their own mini-sidequests.
Now, it’s up to the players to find them all, bring them together, and create a group to help them fight Kefka.
Priceless – Final Fantasy XVI
Priceless is a sidequest in Final Fantasy XVI that can be played during the main quest for Back to Their Origin.
Players can accept the quest from the Reading Table in The Hideaway, though they must first complete the Where There’s a Will sidequest.
The players must chat with Joshua and travel to Mann’s Hill to begin Priceless. From there, they must defeat a minotaur while Clive and Jill spend time together.
Once they have completed this quest, the rewards include 7,200 EXP, 40 renown, Shiva’s Kiss, and Snow Daisy Garland.
This also adds critical context to make the players understand FFXVI’s ending sequence.
The Saga of Seaside Inn – Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s The Saga of Seaside Inn sidequest is for the completionists.
Here, players can get everything they need to help out multiple Johnnys and find all the Refurbished Materials.
In this sidequest, they have to speak with Johnny at Seaside Inn, return to Costa Falls to find Johnny, find the eight refurbished materials for Johnny(s), check the abandoned factory, and get the Pristine Crown.
It’s a long journey, but the rewards are worth it.
Once completed, players unlock Johnny’s Treasure Trove and the Seaside Inn fast travel point, receive 10 Party EXP, 1,100 EXP, Affinity with Yuffie, and Card 134: J-Squad.
Monster Collecting – Final Fantasy X
The spine of Final Fantasy X’s sidequest is to collect monsters for an old man’s collection. Though it sounds weird, it’s good.
The unsent Yevon priest Trema runs the Monster Arena and always looks for new additions.
Trema will sell players weapons with the Capture ability, which they can use to capture monsters in the wild.
Of course, this comes with great rewards. If they collect each type of monster from different locations, they will receive a king’s ransom in rare items.
They, too, will be privileged to test their mettle against new powerful monsters. Though this may be a side quest, there is no denying it's a lot of fun.
These are just eight sidequests players can enjoy in Final Fantasy that can lead to obtaining powerful items and cool characters.
These, too, can add a lot of fun to the gameplay.
