Lost Ark is already setting itself up to be one of the top MMO games of 2022, with thousands flocking to its servers using Founder's Packs to grab access to the game early. First released by Smilegate in South Korea in 2019, the MMOARPG title is now launching worldwide, and fans are clearly excited.

With an abundance of features such as mounts, skins, and pets to be collected, as well as ranked PvP, and plenty of Twitch Drops, it's an exciting time to jump onto Lost Ark. As well as the main storyline, there are plenty of other NPC's you'll encounter that wish to become closer with your character.

These NPC's essentially want to improve their friendship with you, and for doing so, the rapport system in Lost Ark offers plenty of additional quests and rewards. In this guide, we explain everything you need to know about the rapport system in Lost Ark.

What is Rapport in Lost Ark?

As you traverse Arkasia and take part in various quests in Lost Ark, you'll inevitably come across NPC's that wish to speak with you and spend time with you. You can then choose to build Rapport with them, completing certain activities and quests in an attempt to increase your friendship level with the NPC in exchange for rewards.

This is known as the Rapport system in Lost Ark, and you'll encounter it rather early on in the game. The first NPC's available to build Rapport with are Neria and Siera in Prideholme. However, while these NPC's are around for you to talk with, other ones will require you to have higher Virtue stats before you can engage with them.

Your Virtue stats differ from any others that you may have, and will consist of: Wisdom, Courage, Charisma, and Kindness. To raise these so that you can build Rapport with locked NPC's, you'll need to complete quests that offer Virtue stat boosts and Virtue stat potions.

Additionally, it's important to note that there are different Rapport tiers in the system that determine how close your relationship is with an NPC. These are, from lowest to highest: Neutral, Amicable, Friendly, and Trusted. A set amount of NPC's can also take this one step further, and may gain a Rapport tier named Affection, if you manage to build enough Rapport with them.

How to Build Rapport in Lost Ark - Rapport Limits

There are a few ways in which players can increase their rapport with NPC's in Lost Ark, but these each have daily limits. They're as follows:

  • Gifts - maximum of 99 per day.
  • Emotes - maximum of 5 per day.
  • Instruments - maximum of 5 per day.

As you may already have expected, every NPC that you can increase Rapport with will also have their preferred gifts, which you can see in the Adventure tab. Gifts can be bought using heart-shaped currency from various merchants, and then used to increase Rapport with your chosen NPC!

Rapport Rewards in Lost Ark

So, what exactly do you gain from building Rapport with an NPC in Lost Ark? Well, it appears there's a lot to both earn and learn. As you get to know an NPC and complete quests that they task you with, you'll learn more about their character and their backstory.

As you increase Rapport ranks with an NPC, they'll give out further rewards that can be Silver, Gold, Cards and other valuable items. This is perhaps one of the best ways to go about acquiring Gold in Lost Ark, but we've outlined how you can farm for plenty of it here.
