Tonight's Nintendo Direct has been full of surprises, but I don't think any of us could've anticipated Mario Strikers: Battle League. Having been missing in action since 2007's Mario Strikers Charged Football on the Wii, a new entry's finally coming to Switch.
Launching on June 10, 2022, Mario Strikers: Battle League retains the previous five-on-five soccer-like formula, though there's no referees to reign you in. Letting you tackle, use items and activate special shots, that'll support eight-player local multiplayer with four players per team.

That also comes with individual matches and online multiplayer through a club mode, which promises up to 20 players can join. Pre-orders have gone live on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and you can find the full trailer below.
Elsewhere during this reveal, Nintendo also confirmed several new games, including a new Fire Emblem Warriors entry, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. We also got a fresh look at Kirby And The Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, and Advance Wars 1+2, and we'll bring you the remaining Direct stories as they happen.
