Latest news
At the D23 Marvel Games expo last month, the new release date for Marvel's Midnight Suns was confirmed. The game is now due to release on December 2, 2022. As such, there isn't long left to wait.
One thing to note is that the last-gen versions of the game are still without a release date. The chances are they'll come out a few months down the line.
This week, just a couple of months from launch, Firaxis and 2K revealed that Midnight Suns was being delayed.
They did not specify when the new release date would be, but we imagine it's been pushed to sometime in 2023.
The delay has been made to "ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our fans."
After an appearance at Summer Game Fest in June, Firaxis Games shared a new trailer confirming the October 2022 release date for Marvel's Midnight Suns. On top of that, we got a look at new playable characters in the game, including Spider-Man and Venom. Check out that trailer here:
Marvel’s Midnight Suns Director, Jake Solomon, has said it is the “Opposite of XCOM” in a new interview with EDGE Magazine. Follow the link to learn more.
Unfortunately, Firaxis Games has announced that Marvel Midnight Suns has been delayed into the latter half of 2022. This confirmation came via the game's Twitter account and can be seen below:
Release date and platforms
After various delays, we now have a concrete release date for Marvel's Midnight Suns. It'll come out on December 2, 2022, with no more pushbacks expected. It was initially slated to release in March 2022 followed by a delay to the second half of the year, but we finally have a confirmed date now.
It'll come to PC (via Steam and EGS), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those on older hardware (PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) will also be able to play, but we don't know when yet.
Story
Here's the official synopsis from 2K:
“Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a new tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe, putting you face-to-face against demonic forces of the underworld as you team up with and live among the Midnight Suns, Earth’s last line of defense."
“Through a twisted marriage of magic and science, the nefarious force known as Hydra has revived Lilith, Mother of Demons, after centuries of slumber. Lilith will stop at nothing to complete an ancient prophecy and summon her evil master, Chthon."
“Pushed to the brink, the Avengers desperately look to fight fire with Hellfire by enlisting the help of the Midnight Suns – Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider — young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural, formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to fulfill. Together, they resurrect an ancient warrior – the Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.”
Heroes
While the trailer showed off plenty of recognisable heroes including Wolverine, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and more, it appears they won't all necessarily be playable.
Players will instead "forge friendships" with some heroes, with the plot summary above suggesting we'll be fighting as the Midnight Suns rather than the Avengers.
