Magneto is a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, where his role fundamentally requires him to play on the front lines, guarding his teammates and damaging his enemies. He does this through a plethora of abilities at his disposal and his mastery of magnetism. Through the multi-functional role he plays, he can comfortably control the battlefield.
Due to the same multitude of abilities, he can pair up with numerous Duelists and Strategists in the game to further increase his or his duo’s potency. Wondering about the best heroes to duo with Magneto in Marvel Rivals? Read the article below as we dive deeper into this topic.
Magneto Abilities in Marvel Rivals
Before diving into the duos that work best with Magneto, it’s vital to understand his abilities. This will allow players to gain an understanding of how Magneto pairs with various characters in the game.
Starting with his signature ability, Metal Bulwark allows Magneto to generate protective shields around his allies to absorb and defend against incoming enemy attacks. Additionally, the absorbed damage is converted into metal rings, which Magneto can then use for offensive purposes.
Another notable ability of the character is Metallic Curtain, where Magneto erects barriers to obstruct enemy projectiles and disrupt their formations. On the offensive side of things, he reverts to multiple abilities present to him. For instance, in the Iron Volley, where the character unleashes a barrage of metal shards at his opponents, dealing deadly AoE damage to the receiver.
Additionally, he can also revert to his Ultimate, the Meteor M. This is a powerful ability, where the character can absorb nearby projectiles and unleash them at his opponents, critically lowering their health.
Best Duo Heroes for Magneto in Marvel Rivals
Where Magneto can use his metallic abilities for defensive or oppressive purposes, his allies can capitalize on the opportunities he makes in the process. Below, we’ll look at the best team-ups for Magneto in Marvel Rivals.
Scarlet Witch (Duelist)
Since Scarlet Witch is a Duelist in Marvel Rivals and her role is fundamentally DPS-related, the synergy created between her and Magneto allows the latter to significantly enhance his oppressive abilities.
This synergy is known as Metallic Chaos, where Magneto’s metallic abilities are infused with Scarlet’s Chaos Energy to enhance his greatsword, allowing him to release high damage-output projectiles at his opponents.
On the defensive side of things, Magneto utilizes one of the abilities we discussed earlier, the Metallic Bulwark—through which the character forms a defensive shield around Scarlet to prevent her from getting damaged via enemy offenses.
Mantis (Strategist)
Since Mantis is a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, the pair-up with Magneto is a supportive one, whereby the former grants her ally essential healing buffs to increase his durability and potency on the battlefield.
Through Healing Flower, Mantis grants Magneto constant healing from a distance. This allows Magneto to sustain incoming enemy damage while being able to wreak havoc. Additionally, since the healing is done from a distance, Mantis ensures security from enemy attacks. In cases where that’s unlikely, Magneto provides an escape window to her through Metallic Bulwark.
Another unique part of this pair-up is Mantis’ ability to enhance Magneto’s damage output. This is done through the former’s damage-enhancing orbs, making Magneto’s projectiles even more deadly for his enemies. Finally, where Magneto needs a window to reposition or escape Mantis can use her crowd-controlling (Soothing Aura) abilities.
Wolverine (Duelist)
The comics and movies show Logan to be an aggressive character who excels in close-quarter combat—Marvel Rivals is no different. That being said, Wolverine’s potency is compromised when challenged with heroes who attack from a distance—this is where Magneto can counteract these strategies.
For instance, where Wolverine can use Feral Leap to dive into enemy players, Magneto can provide him with Metal Bulwark, allowing the former to avoid incoming damage and gain a competitive edge over his rivals.
Additionally, Magneto can also play an assisting role for Wolverine, where the former can use offensive abilities like the Iron Volley, Mag-Cannon, or Meteor M to damage enemies—Wolverine can dive onto them to gain the final kill with minimal blows.
Black Panther (Duelist)
Known for his agility and precision-based damage, Black Panther is a commendable Duelist in the game. His synergy with Magneto is particularly useful, as both can capitalize on multiple aspects of each other’s attributes.
For starters, where Black Panther excels in closing gaps between him and his enemies to deal devastating melee attacks and combos, Magneto can grant him protection through Metal Bulwark. Additionally, they can also blend in their respective offensive abilities to eliminate various opponents on the battlefield.
With Vibranium Marks, Black Panther can focus (and significantly damage) key targets on the map, while Magneto can use his Mag-Cannon, Iron Volley, or Meteor M to provide follow-up damage and close the elimination.
Finally, Magneto’s Metallic Curtain can be used to disrupt enemy formations, leading to their displacement. This creates a big enough window for Black Panther to capitalize upon with his set of offensive abilities.
Hulk (Vanguard)
Hulk’s a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, so the combined health pool and variety of attributes already create enough pressure on the enemy team. When we talk about the specifics, though, there are various synergical abilities to capitalize upon.
For instance, Hulk’s Radioactive Lockdown. Used to immobilize enemies, this ability creates a gap for Magneto to charge his Mag Cannon or deploy his Metallic Curtain to disrupt the opposition. Additionally, they can also pair up their offensive strategies in succession, where one hero critically depletes the enemy, and the other lands a few blows or combos to gain the elimination.
