Being a Vanguard with multiple abilities up his sleeves, Venom is one of the most feared characters in Marvel Rivals. Through his monstrous strength and symbiotic-based abilities, he functions efficiently in the offensive, supportive, and defensive departments.
As a front-liner, though, he’s bound to take more damage than his allies—and the buffy build can soon deteriorate when he has no one to turn to in battle. For that purpose, he needs a duo who can complement his strengths and compensate for his weaknesses. Below, we’ll be looking at the Best Heroes to Duo With Venom in Marvel Rivals.
Venom Abilities in Marvel Rivals
Being a Vanguard, you’ll mostly find the character on the front lines, utilizing his symbiotic abilities to support his allies or attack his enemies. To understand what heroes work well with Venom, though, it is vital to first understand how the character fundamentally works.
For starters, Venom’s Symbiotic Claws are a great example of his skill set. Serving as his Primary Attack, this ability allows the character to deal rapid melee attacks to his enemies, making them suffer critical damage instantly. Blending his health pool and efficiency in close-range combat, the Symbiotic Claws become all the more potent.
On the crowd-control or ‘disruptive’ side of things, Venom has a deadly skill: the Web Snare. Here, the character shoots out a tendril of symbiote matter to pull enemies closer and follow up with deadly combos. In addition, it also helps counter your enemies’ escape strategies.
On the movement front, Venom utilizes the Lethal Pounce. As the name suggests, this ability allows Venom to propel forward and land on his enemies with immense force, knocking them down upon impact. Apart from being able to close gaps between your enemies with this trait, it’s also a great ‘breaker’ when you’re deciding to confront an opponent on the battlefield.
One of Venom’s most defining traits is Symbiote Regeneration, which passively restores his health over time, allowing him to significantly increase his durability. With this ability activated, the Symbiotic Menace carries on his streak of aggressiveness on the map.
Finally, Venom’s Ultimate: the Ravenous Frenzy. Here, the character can significantly enhance his damage output and movement speed for a brief period. In this state, he becomes a nearly unstoppable force, rampaging through enemy lines and taking down multiple opponents with his enhanced strikes.
When used correctly, this ability can single-handedly shift the tide of battle in his team’s favor.
Best Heroes for Venom in Marvel Rivals
As can be seen above, Venom has something to offer in every department, making him a versatile Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. In that case, he needs a duo who can complement him effectively. We’ll check some of them out below.
1. Spider-Man (Duelist)
Spider-Man is a Duelist in Marvel Rivals and known for his exceptional movement and ‘annoying’ abilities. Despite Peter and Venom’s complicated history in the comic and cinematic world, the two are extremely potent when paired together in Marvel Rivals, where one can efficiently complement the other.
For instance, Spider-Man’s Web Shot, through which the character can immobilize his enemies. Here, Venom can coordinate and utilize his Web Snare, being able to pull the immobilized enemies toward himself and finishing off with his devastating melee combos.
Additionally, since both the characters have web-based attributes, they can bait their enemies. For instance, Spidey can use his Web Sling to control the battlefield, setting his opponents into positions where Venom can capitalize and disable them.
Known for his Spidey Sense, Peter can effectively use it to aid Venom. His Spider-Sense also allows him to react to enemy movements faster, warning Venom of incoming dangers effectively.
2. Hulk (Vanguard)
Known for his raw strength, Hulk is an exceptional Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. Like Venom, he has a relatively higher health pool than Duelists and Strategists—that’s not the only reason why he’s a well-rounded pair-up for the Symbiotic Menace, though.
Since he has the raw strength to power up his offenses, he can effectively aid his symbiotic duo in battle. For instance, Hulk’s Thunderous Smash, where he can knock enemies into the air, making them easy targets for Venom’s Lethal Pounce.
Another unique advantage that this duo has is their ability to self-heal themselves. Where Hulk’s Gamma Resilience provides incredible durability, Venom uses Symbiotic Regeneration for himself. When paired or used in synergy, both of these characters can significantly enhance their health regeneration to blend their offenses and wreak havoc on the battlefield.
3. Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
While Doctor Strange doesn’t seem like the hero you’d expect with Venom as a duo, his crowd and battlefield control, coupled with his supportive and teleportation abilities, make him an excellent pair-up for Venom.
With the Eye of Agamotto, Strange can teleport Venom to key positions, giving him instant access to high-priority targets. This allows the Symbiotic Menace to effectively counter his weaker attributes—speed.
Stephen’s Crimson Bands of Cyttorak is another helpful ability for Venom. Here, he can essentially block his enemies’ movement, allowing Venom to capitalize on the opportunity by using Web Snare to reel them in, followed by deadly melee combos.
And since the Symbiotic Menace is a front-liner, he’s prone to more damage than others. Granted, he has a self-healing ability to take care of that. In cases where that’s not helping much, though, Strange can step up and cover his ally’s back with the Shield of the Seraphim for additional protection.
