With Season 1 setting for Marvel Rivals, the hype is on for the second season which will bring players to the Hellfire Gala on Krakoa, hosted by none other than incoming hero Emma Frost.
As the rumors have confirmed, Frost is going to be a Vanguard hero for the game, and NetEase just dropped a video highlighting her solid abilities.
Emma Frost Abilities Breakdown
In a recent gameplay showcase for Emma, it’s revealed that most of her kit consists of her using her psychic powers as well as making good use for her diamond form. Check this out:
“Emma Frost of Krakoa’s Quiet Council cordially invites you to attend the grand return of the Hellfire Gala! With the timelines in complete disarray and Mutantkind scattered, the White Queen reignites her annual celebration to welcome allies old and new to the living island.
A wealthy socialite, fashion icon, and powerful telepath, Emma Frost uses her Mutant abilities to dominate her foes while executing on the vision of a protected home for Mutantkind…”
Admittedly, no official analysis of Emma’s abilities have been released by NetEase, but online fans have been able to deduce what she can do based on what’s showcased in the video. Here’s the breakdown of Emma’s skills
- Primary Attack – Psychic Rey – Emma projects a psychic beam on enemies, and it supposedly also charges up a meter that’s around the crosshair. It’s unclear what the meter charges, but some think this could increase the damage of the Psychic Rey or charge up the Diamond Form.
- Secondary Attack – Psychic Barrier – Emma projects a diamond barrier in front of her, and she can also control where it stops.
- E – Mind Crush – A unique ability that has Emma draw a ‘Psychic Totem’ from enemies, and she can attack that instead to instill critical damage on the target.
- Shift Skill – Diamond Form – Emma takes on her Diamond Form for a total of 6 seconds. In this form, she becomes a melee attacker, and it also looks like she’s going to be immune to getting knocked back or moved.
- Diamond Form Abilities:
- Primary Attack – Diamond Shock – Emma gets increased damage with her diamond punches.
- Secondary Attack – Diamond Kick – A knockback ability that can move enemies; enough to push them off a map if positioned properly.
- E – Diamond Slam – Emma grabs enemies by the throat and slams them to the ground. This can be made into a combo finishing off with the Diamond Kick.
- Diamond Form Abilities:
- Ultimate – Mind Control –Emma projects a psychic beam that forces enemies to face her; there’s also a noticeable diamond-shaped charge above their health when this happens, and it looks like when it’s filled up, the enemies caught in the beam will start walking toward Emma—Perfect for crowd control and combos with other ultimates.
Team-Up Abilities (Psylocke and Magneto) – One ability that was showcased in the dev update was the team-up ability with Psylocke and Magneto. This will allow Emma to make visible projections of Psylocke and Magneto to distract players (like Loki’s doubles). Unlike Loki clones though, they cannot cause damage.
Some speculate that there is still a Passive Skill that is yet to be revealed, but for now, it looks like this is what they can surmise from the gameplay footage.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 kicks off on April 11. The game is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
