Though X-Men fans have a fairly good idea of what Psylocke a.k.a. Betsy Braddock looks like, Marvel Rivals’ Multiverse scheme made use of a variant designed by Peach Momoko from the Demon Days Marvel comic—which gives several Marvel characters a Feudal Japan twist.

Last week, Marvel Rivals announced their one-shot comic Ignite, and it features several other characters designed through Momoko’s unique mythical Japan lens.

Marvel Rivals: Ignite

As officially revealed on Marvel.com, Marvel Rivals: Ignite showcases a trio of stories featuring Marvel Rivals characters set in a mythical Japanese universe. The comic is set to release on June 11, and it features variant versions of Psylocke, Venom, Peni Parker, Punisher, Hela, and Luna Snow. Check these covers out:

Interestingly enough, Psylocke (or Sai) was the lead of the Demon Days comic, which also featured a variant ‘Oni’ version of Venom, as well as Sai’s dog companion named Logan. Unfortunately, Wolverine doesn’t get a special skin with this drop of cosmetics though.

Besides the incoming comics, Marvel Rivals has also revealed that at least three of the heroes will be getting Peach Momoko-designed skins that will be available in-game—particularly for Punisher, Hela, and Luna Snow:

No release date has been revealed for the costumes, but with the comic set to release in June, it’s best to think that NetEase would also release the skins around the same time for some of that cross-promotion synergy.

Marvel Rivals Summer

With Marvel Rivals gearing up for the start of the second season in April, June would also be near the start of the third season, which would mean that there could be another change in theme.

No official details have been released about Season 2 yet, but there have been rumors going around that it’s going to be about Mutants and a new map has allegedly leaked featuring the infamous X-Mansion from X-Men lore. Other leaked characters have also included the likes of Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey.

It is worth noting that there have also been leaks for characters like Blade and Ultron, and it’s possible they could be the ones dropped before NetEase decides to include more mutants in the roster.

Nobody has any idea of what Season 3 could be about, but if the Ignite comics release around that time, it’s possible that it could have something to do with the theme of the third season. Then again, it’s possible that the mythical Feudal Japan could be the theme of Season 2, and the comics could be completing the arc of the narrative that the game introduces.

Admittedly, all that fans can really do is guess until NetEase makes any official reveals—which shouldn’t be that far off down the line; give or take a few more weeks.
