An overpowered character in Marvel Rivals is a huge deal. Since most characters typically excel in one area or role, having a versatile character can make all the difference. Especially when it comes to changing the entire dynamics of the game.
That being said, it’s hard to gauge which character possesses such traits from the exhaustive roster that Marvel Rivals grants its players. To make the search effortless for you, here’s a listicle on the most overpowered characters in Marvel Rivals.
Top 5 Most Overpowered Characters in Marvel Rivals
For a character to be considered as ‘overpowered’, they must be versatile when it comes to their skill sets, allowing them to maneuver and counter various situations on the battlefield. Below, we’ll look at a few heroes who possess these characteristics.
1. Iron Fist (Duelist)
Iron Fist is one of the most feared opponents in Marvel Rivals. Despite not boasting an impeccable health bar as a Duelist, he still stands out against numerous heroes on the battlefield due to his unique skill set, allowing him to enhance his mobility, sustainability, and offensive attributes.
An excellent example on the ‘sustainability’ front is his Dragon’s Defense ability. As the name suggests, the ability fundamentally focuses on Iron Fist’s defensive systems, allowing him to absorb and convert incoming damage to counter-act his opponents. Additionally, this also makes room for the character to follow up with his offensive attributes.
And talking about his offense, Yat Jee Chung Kuen is a great mention. This ability allows the hero to deliver rapid punches to his opponents, dealing significant damage in a short duration. Combine it with his previous ability, and you can deplete your opponent’s health in no time.
On the ‘mobility’ side of things, Iron Fist has two abilities that grant him a competitive edge. First is the Wall Run—pretty self-explanatory. The second ability, known as the Triple Jump, allows the character to perform three consecutive jumps, granting him an opportunity to retreat or reposition—depending on the circumstances.
2. Hela (Duelist)
Hela is another Duelist on our list of overpowered characters in Marvel Rivals. As the comics and movies depict, the Asgardian Goddess is an absolute powerhouse. Relying mostly on her high damage output while being a ranged character, Hela is a feared opponent.
Nightsword Thorn is a great example of this, where Hela can fire precise projectiles at her enemies. These projectiles are massive damage dealers, and shooting them from a range only increases the potency tied to them.
Another similar ability that the Asgardian Goddess tends to use is the Soul Drainer. As the name suggests, the power is fundamentally offensive. Through this ability, Hela’s able to launch an explosive orb that’s capable of stunning and damaging nearby enemies.
Apart from her offensive attributes, Hela is also able to utilize her evasive abilities to flee the battlefield when required. This is possible through Astral Flock.
3. Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
Stephen Strange is a Vanguard, so he already has an advantage over most heroes in the game, thanks to his health bar. Apart from this, though, Strange utilizes his mastery over the mystic arts to deal damage to his enemies while supporting his teammates, being able to alter the dynamics of the game.
Let’s start with his supportive attributes. The Shield of the Seraphim is a great example here, where Strange can create a protective barrier for his allies, effectively blocking incoming damage.
On the offensive (and crowd-control) side of things, he utilizes Maelstrom of Madness, where he’s able to use his mystic arts to disorient nearby enemies, creating a gap for him and his teammates to counter.
A competitive advantage to Strange is his mobility. Where you’d expect Tanks to be slightly slower than others due to their puffy build, Strange can use his magical powers to counteract that. Through the Pentagram of Farallah, Stephen can create portals that allow him to maneuver multiple locations on the map efficiently.
4. Cloak & Dagger
Cloak & Dagger is an interesting character. Here, the character’s essentially a blend of two separate entities (Cloak and Dagger), allowing the hero to boast both healing and offensive abilities. As one could guess, this is significantly impactful when let out on the battlefield.
Let’s start with his offensive side first. Through Lightforce Daggers, the character’s able to let out multi-functional projectiles, where they can heal allies or deal damage to enemies upon impact.
This dynamic duo operates as a single unit, offering a versatile blend of healing and damage-dealing capabilities. Their ability to switch between Cloak and Dagger forms allows players to adapt to various combat scenarios seamlessly.
Dagger works on the ‘healing’ front. For instance, her Veil of Lightforce ability, where the character essentially releases a healing aura that regenerates the health of nearby allies over time.
5. Jeff the Land Shark (Strategist)
An unlikely mention in our list is Jeff the Land Shark—a Strategist, fundamentally. While the character is extremely adorable from the outset, his versatile skill set makes him deadly on the battlefield.
For instance, his Ultimate, It’s Jeff!, where the land shark becomes temporarily invincible and can engulf multiple enemies throughout a wide area.
Since Jeff’s a Strategist, you can expect him to have more supportive abilities. The Healing Stream is a great example, where the character can essentially let out a stream of healing aura that regenerates his allies’ health over time, providing them with more sustainability. Additionally, he can also shield the friendlies. This is done through the Protective Bubbles ability.
