NetEase’s Marvel Rivals isn’t even out yet, but the developers continue to reveal more incoming characters, and fans are excited about the growing roster.

One character that’s been revealed before is Betsy Braddock, a.k.a. Psylocke from X-Men, and she has an array of special skills that embrace her more ninja-based origin and psionic powers. At best, she’s a mix of Genji and Sombra from Overwatch.

Psylocke’s Main Abilities

Psylocke’s main abilities are all meant to mesh with her kit as a ninja variant of the character, with some psionic flourishes to some of her weapons. Her abilities also allow her to move fast around the battlefield and deal a sudden burst of damage (like Genji’s dash), and she can also turn invisible and sneak around her opponents (like Sombra’s stealth mode).

Her special team-up members are Magik and Black Panther, allowing her to do something similar to Tracer’s Recall ability from OW.

Here’s a breakdown of what she can do

Psionic Crossbow (Left Mouse Click) – Psylocke’s main attack. She uses her crossbow that shoots psionic bolts and deals damage to enemies. Using this weapon also reduces the cooldowns of Psy’s other abilities.

Wing Shurikens (Right Mouse Click) – Psylocke’s secondary fire. This lets Psy shoot a volley of shurikens that will stick to enemies; one main difference with this weapon is it grants bonus health. Pressing the button again recalls the shurikens.

Psychic Stealth (E) – Like Sombra’s invisibility mode, activating psychic stealth mode will allow Psy to go invisible and gain a movement boost that will allow her to move even faster.

Psi-Blade Dash (Left Shift) – Essentially Genji’s dash, this move will allow Psylocke to slice through enemies in her path with psionic blades.

Ultimate: Dance of the Butterfly (Q) – Psy’s ultimate ability allows her to cast a huge circle, and everyone within the range gets dealt swiftly with an attack from Psylocke’s psionic katana. Players can move the range circle while it’s active, albeit it will move slowly.

Team-Up Ability: Psionic Disc (C) - Similar to Tracer’s Recall ability. Whenever Magik is on the field, Psylocke and Black Panther can tap into Limbo and rewind to a location they were in a few seconds back. Using this ability will also grant Psylocke and Black Panther bonus health.

Additional Notes on Psylocke

Most of these notes have something to do with Psy’s secondary ability, Wing Shurikens. Though the shurikens will get stuck on the enemy, it hits first, and retracting them will hit every enemy in the path going back; the health bonus gained also depends on how many shurikens manage to land on an enemy.

When performing the dash, Psylocke also retracts any secondary fire she had previously thrown out.

With this being a live-service game, some changes could likely be made to Psylocke when she goes live, but for now, it looks like a solid build. Though she does have team-up ability with fellow X-Man Magik, it won’t be surprising if she could also have some kind of ability if Wolverine were on her team (whenever he gets announced).

Marvel Rivals will launch on Dec. 6 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
