The Witcher 3 is an incredibly huge open-world game, but some fans don’t feel too attached to it since they control Geralt throughout. However, this game-changing mod is about to change that, as it now lets players create their own Witcher, making it feel more like Skyrim or Dragon’s Dogma.

Nikich340 revealed their Custom Player Characters mod (via VG247), giving players a chance to make the game feel a bit more personal. Changes aren’t just cosmetic, as players can change their gender and playstyle, which makes replaying the game much more essential.

While players can stick with Geralt’s playstyle in The Witcher 3, they can also try their hand as a sorceress for more spell-based gameplay. It’s a massive change to this nine-year old game, showing just how massive this mod is.

Since this is just a mod, the female characters are voiced by a trained AI that’s able to mimic the voice of Ciri, Yennefer, and Triss. This voice can be used throughout the whole game, making the story feel a bit unique if you’re playing a woman. Male players will have to stick with Geralt's sexy voice, which isn’t a problem at all.

Considering how The Witcher will always be about Geralt, this mod is a breath of fresh air and one we’re glad to see implemented. Fans won’t have to worry about any takedowns for this since CD Projekt Red fully supports mods for this game. Just don’t get mad when they don’t implement a custom character feature in the next installment because Geralt will always play a major role.

Even without mods, The Witcher 3 is still a great game, so console owners who are sad that they won’t have this feature shouldn’t feel too bad. Having a new mod like this is great, but the fundamental game is the same and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
