Breakdown

  • Dragon's Dogma 2 will punish players if they ignore certain side quests
  • Certain side quests are timed and can fail if they're ignored for too long
  • Players are encouraged not to take on too many side quests

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is going to be a very challenging RPG, as it forces players to let go of certain patterns they might have with other games in the genre. The sequel will punish players if they take on too many side quests, as many of them have time limits, and failing them could have major consequences.

Reddit user Strange_Music posted a warning screen from the game, which tells you that some quests are affected by the passage of time. If players choose to add them and take too long to get these quests done, they could fail and face dire consequences.

This isn’t an entirely new concept, but it goes to show that Dragon’s Dogma 2 isn’t going to be a relaxing RPG. Anyone hoping to just grind it out and mash buttons is going to pay dearly if they aren’t careful.

It was previously stated that the game’s NPC party members, Pawns, can die permanently if players aren’t careful. Unlike other RPGs, you can’t automatically revive your pawns with an item, as their corpses end up in the morgue. If you don’t go to the morgue and revive the body after a few days, it will be lost forever.

While this might surprise newer players, fans who have played the first game are probably happy to see this amount of challenge in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The first Dragon’s Dogma wasn’t incredibly difficult, but it still provided more of a challenge than your typical action RPG, with a lot of tough bosses.

Not everything surrounding the sequel is good news, as Capcom has announced that this game won’t go over 30FPS. Since there won’t be a Performance Mode to choose from, players will be stuck with this default frame rate. Granted, 30FPS is a very playable experience for most games, but this generation has spoiled fans on 60FPS.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be coming out later this month, on March 22. The game will be coming out on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
