Are you an SNK fan looking for legacy characters? Too bad. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves just revealed its second guest character of the base roster, EDM artist Salvatore Ganacci.
The reveal happened unexpectedly on April 3 with a character trailer and a live-action teaser telling the story of a young boy whose dream is to become a videogame character. Much to the dismay of the SNK community, it happened in City of the Wolves.
Ganacci is a famous EDM artist who has performed on some of the biggest stages in the world including Tomorrowland. No one denies his credentials as a music artist, but his inclusion in a fighting game has rubbed people the wrong way.
It's particularly egregious considering he's the fourth guest character confirmed for City of the Wolves. Ganacci will be a part of the main roster alongside football icon Cristiano Ronaldo. Season 1 will add Ken Masters and Chun-Li from Street Fighter. At least for the latter duo, you can make the argument that it's a crossover aimed to excite fans of the genre.
It's no secret that Saudi Arabia now essentially owns SNK, with the company working under the MiSK Foundation. Cristiano Ronaldo and now Salvatore Ganacci being guest characters is likely a product of this ownership.
As CR7, who is a massive celebrity in Saudi Arabia, even becoming a country ambassador ahead of the country's bid to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Greece and Egypt (which they lost, but don't worry they'll now be the sole organizers of the 2034 edition), Ganacci is extremely popular in Saudi.
In fact, the DJ has several performances scheduled in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this late April. Coincidentally, the same week Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is being released.
Sadly for SNK legacy fans, you'll have to wait longer to see South Town's resident DJ, Duck King, debut in City of the Wolves. The new Fatal Fury is set for release on April 24, with three days of early access if you pre-order the game. You'll be able to play it on Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
