Final Fantasy 14 is popular amongst MMO fans right now and many of them are willing to part with their money to keep supporting this title. Unfortunately, scalpers are taking advantage of that passion, hoarding a limited-time drink collaboration and selling the codes that come with them.

Many took to the game’s subreddit (via GamesRadar), explaining how these scalpers are taking advantage of this limited-time drink campaign. After Square Enix announced that an exclusive mount would be available in collaboration with milk tea service Gong cha, scalpers are buying the drinks in mass. If that wasn’t enough, these codes are now being sold for hundreds of dollars.

While disappointing, this is typical behavior for scalpers, as they always try to overbuy and overcharge for these collaboration collectibles. This isn’t too common with Final Fantasy 14 fans, but anyone buying a PS5 in 2020 knows how frequent these price hikes are.

The Gong cha mechanics only require players to buy three drinks, which cost $15-$20 overall. Pricing the codes at over $100 is a huge price hike and something players shouldn’t even consider, no matter how much they want this exclusive mount. Hopefully, Square Enix will keep this promotion around for a while, as these price hikes are excessive.

It seems that everyone is aware of all the momentum Final Fantasy 14 has, thanks to Dawntrail expansion’s release. Fans have been waiting to play this expansion for a while and it seems to have lived up to expectations. While some questionable decisions are being made, fans are still enjoying the new locations and dungeons.

Only time will tell if there will be more Final Fantasy 14 collaborations like this, but scalpers are ruining the fun for everyone. At the least, fans who do not care for these collaborations will be able to play this game normally. Those curious about the massively popular MMO can pick it up on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
