  • Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida wants to bring the game to other systems after PC
  • This is a huge tease for the game's possible Xbox and Switch 2 ports
  • Square Enix is bringing more of their games to other consoles

Final Fantasy XVI will soon be complete when the game’s final DLC, The Rising Tide, comes out next month on April 18. It turns out that this isn’t the end for this entry, as Square Enix has plans to bring it to other systems after the upcoming PC port.

Producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida spoke with Noisy Pixel about the game’s upcoming PC port, essentially teasing a port for Xbox Series and maybe even Switch 2. Although Yoshida didn’t name a system, the producer said that he wants to bring this action RPG to other platforms.

“It’s not over in the sense that we have the PC version. Once the PC version is released, we’re thinking about hopefully moving to other platforms as well. However, that’s not really talking about the story; it’s more about moving it onto different platforms,” Yoshida said. “So, there is a sense that while the project is still going, there is not that sense of being sad and having to leave them yet. But I’m pretty sure that once everything is released and we’ve moved on to the next project, that would be the time where it kind of hits us that, “Oh, it’s really it’s over?””

Yoshida clearly wants to bring Final Fantasy XVI to other systems and there’s a very good chance of that happening. While the game is only about to come out on PC, Square Enix did recently bring Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox after the longest time.

Square Enix hasn’t been Xbox’s biggest ally, but the company does seem more open to bringing their games to Microsoft’s console. There was initially some confusion about the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy being console exclusive to PlayStation, but Square Enix did take that back.

As it stands, Final Fantasy XVI will soon be complete on the PlayStation 5 once The Rising Tide comes out on April 18. The PC version of this acclaimed RPG will be released soon after, though no date has been given.
