If you ask a group of people what they like about World of Warcraft, most would give you an answer along the lines of describing an epic battle, a cinematic lore moment, and the great RPG mechanics. You have to balance them to create a solid character. However, some would talk about some of the other sides of WoW. In this article, I want to shine a light into some of these less loved aspects of the world’s most popular game!
To get even a chance to do a lot of these activities, you have to be either several hours into the game or be a high level. Pet battles
WoW has a pet system, where an animal NPC will follow you around and protect you in battle. It differs server to server, but there’s always something so fun and quirky about going to an RP server and seeing people so deep into their character. You almost can’t tell who’s an important lore NPC and who’s a player. Players create entire personas for their characters, from their backstory and personality to their clothing choices and speech patterns. Cities like Stormwind or Silvermoon often host live RP events.
It’s the social aspect of an MMO put into full throttle. Playing like this Will meet people and even forge great friendships. These people are basically putting on a show, and they will be thrilled you’re giving them the stage to put it on. There’s even social events like weddings, political debates and more that you can see. It’s wow at its most immersive, and I cannot recommend enough that you go to these RP places and socialize. You will have more fun than you’ll think.
Achievements and exploration
WoW has thousands of achievements, many of which involve unique or obscure tasks. Exploring the dark corners of the map will reveal puzzles and even riddles for you to solve and get pretty rare achievements, and with this, bragging rights, of course. Some achievements reward mounts, like previously stated but also pets, or titles. If you only focus on questing, there are plenty of places in Azeroth that you will never visit, so it’s encouraged to go out and look for it!
Professions and marketing
Crafting, smiting and various other small tasks that you can do aren’t just about making gold, but they’re also about relaxing, kicking your feet up and taking a break from all the chaos in the world… of warcraft. But of course you can always take anything you make, fish, hunt, or even cook to the auction house to transform it into gold if you want. A lot of players play WoW like a business simulator. Purchasing items and flipping them for more money. It’s a very different pace from the regular game, but it's very rewarding!

Adventure, questing and a cinematic story that has changed the gaming atmosphere since its release are the biggest parts of World of Warcraft, but the game is far more three-dimensional than that. Whether you're collecting mounts, dominating pet battles, or just relaxing with fishing and transmog runs, there’s always something new to do in Azeroth. Sometimes, taking a step off the main path can lead to the most unexpected fun, like making friends in a role-playing server and finding a rare item in the auction house to flip for some real coin.
