Following on from the events of God of War Ragnarok, a new adventure for the Norse fighter Kratos has been revealed: God of War Ragnarok Valhalla.
A roguelite add-on for the award-winning action adventure game, Kratos will travel to Valhalla to fight waves upon waves of enemies with the series’ brilliantly satisfying combat system.
Releasing on December 12, 2023, Valhalla is a completely free addition to the already believed narrative adventure game on PS5. Described as a “gift to the community” during The Game Awards 2023, the new expansion will be downloadable from the PlayStation Store with no additional asking price.
While many fans expected an entire story DLC in the same vein as The Last of Us: Left Behind or Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores, Ragnarok’s Valhalla DLC is a much smaller affair than many gamers were led to believe.
Nevertheless, as a free addition to one of the best PS5 exclusives around, the new roguelite DLC is a great addition to the already stacked single player adventure. Furthermore, the expansion will include narrative additions that continue on from the events of the main game.
While the next God of War game is still years away, this new DLC should tide fans over until a true follow-up is actually released. Sure, it may not be the same as the type of expansions we’ll be seeing in upcoming Spider-Man 2 DLC, but as a sweet Christmas bonus for fans of the series, it’s an amazing free addition.
No average completion time has been revealed for the new God of War Ragnarok Valhalla expansion. However, considering it is a roguelite mode, it should be incredibly replayable. Are you ready to lose your life to waves of Ragnarok’s combat systems?
God of War Ragnarok is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A PC port is expected to release sometime in the future, but has yet to be revealed.
