The rumour of GTA 6's (Grand Theft Auto 6) release date has been around for years, but players have never received any clarity regarding the actual date. With the first trailer released in 2023, fans expected the anticipation to end in 2025. However, players know better to wait for an official date rather than believe a slight hint.
Take-Two Interactive's Strauss Zelnick shared that he had kept the release date a secret due to the immense anticipation. He claimed he had never seen other games gaining anticipation as big as GTA 6. Therefore, he wanted to guard the release date to keep fans excited closely.
Zelnick also stated that he had been studying the release schedules of his competitors' games closely. Therefore, he wanted to stay quiet regarding GTA 6, especially when releasing marketing materials. He planned to release the materials as close as possible to the game's release window.
So, what does the public know about GTA 6, and what can players expect revamped in the game? Based on GTA's previous versions and leaks, here are some of the most significant expectations.
Better Casino Experience

Players can only wait–many expect the game to work on PCs. It seems unlikely, but a Corsair executive had hinted that the PC version might come later in 2026. Still, this statement was taken as pure speculation, so players shouldn't expect anything before an official statement from Rockstar or Take-Two.
Based only on what Take-Two said during the press release, the game seems to focus on current-gen consoles. Therefore, PS4 or Xbox One owners shouldn't expect too much from GTA 6.
A Long Road to Release
When Take-Two confirmed that GTA 6 would work on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, they mentioned the game being released in 2025. However, when fans compare the promotional materials released for GTA V and its timeline, it will still be a while until GTA 6 releases in Canada.
It has been two years since the first trailer was released. Take-Two confirmed they'll release more marketing materials when the game's launch date approaches. Although the press release mentioned the game entering the market in 2025, there's still a possibility of more delays.
