Hi-Fi Rush was officially announced for PlayStation 5 and is coming to the platform next month, but many were also expecting a Switch port reveal. After not appearing in yesterday’s Partner Direct, reports are now claiming that the acclaimed Xbox brawler will now be coming to Switch 2 instead.
Insider Gaming claims that Hi-Fi Rush will be coming to Switch 2, seemingly ditching the first Switch after it wasn’t announced in the Partner Direct. This has many fans speculating that it will be one of the first Switch 2 games so that the system will be powerful enough to handle the game.
Reports are claiming that the Switch 2 will be just as powerful as Sony’s PlayStation 4, which is a generation behind but is comparable to the Steam Deck power-wise. Rumours are also claiming that games like Final Fantasy VII Remake will be launch games for the system.
Fans were hoping to see Hi-Fi Rush on the original Switch, especially since there were leaks of cosmetics matching Nintendo’s hardware. There’s a chance that this could be for the Switch 2 and the devs at Xbox are already working on that version. It’s still a shame that the game didn’t make it to current Switch hardware, as the colorful visuals seemingly make it a no-brainer for the console/handheld hybrid.
The Switch is getting a couple of Xbox ports before it sunsets and makes way for its presumably more powerful successor. Both Grounded and Pentiment were announced for the Switch during the aforementioned Partner Direct. In addition to those games, the Switch is already home to Xbox IPs like Cuphead and the Ori games, which is why fans were hoping for more.
