Spider-Man 2 developer Insomniac Games has been targeted by hackers, resulting in the acquisition of personal employee information. Furthermore, the hackers are threatening the studio with plans to leak information regarding its in-development Marvel’s Wolverine game.

Via CyberDaily, Insomniac Games has been targeted by hacking group Rhysidia. The ongoing ransomware attack allegedly holds countless employee details, development documents and more.

As for Marvel’s Wolverine, the hacking group claims it has access to a host of documents relating to the title. Alongside concept art and scripts, the group claims it has access to development screenshots of the new superhero title that has yet to be released to fans.

At the time of writing, Rhysidia has demanded Insomniac Games pay for the group to not release its data. The group allegedly has an auction in place with a starting price of 50 Bitcoin aka $2 million. Insomniac Games has been given just seven days by the hacking group to respond.

The Insomniac Games hack isn’t the only studio to be affected by large-scale hacks in this past year. Earlier this year, Rockstar Games was targeted by hacking groups who leaked in-development build footage of GTA 6. With hours of footage released to the wild, uninformed gamers believed the next GTA game was going to look unfinished on release.

Since then, GTA 6’s official trailer has been officially released alongside a new release date, and fans are already hyped for the open world game, even if it’s years away.

Insomniac Games is currently hard at work on its Wolverine title, which has been worked on alongside its now-released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Furthermore, new Spider-Man 2 DLC is likely in the works, especially with the cliffhanger ending of side quest lines such as The Flame.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available right now on PlayStation 5. While a PC port isn’t officially in the works, it’s expected to release sometime in the future.
