Breakdown

  • This League of Legends player was suspended for humping a stuffed toy
  • The player is suspended for two months and was fined $6000
  • For their part, the player says this was all a misunderstanding

Riot Games had to suspend League of Legends player Lu “Leyan” Jue for doing inappropriate things with a teddy bear. Based on the phrasing used, yes, it was that kind of “inappropriate” and Jue won’t be playing the game professionally for two months because of these actions.

Dexerto reported on a video of Jue supposedly humping a bear, which can only be seen in Chinese social media platform Bilibili. This was a rather large stuffed bear, so there was a lot of space for the LoL player to, well, hump the toy in a gross way.

Invictus Gaming, the team Jue is a part of, confirmed that the League of Legends player was suspended for these actions and fined $6000. According to the statement, the team reprimanded Jue for his actions and promised that he would accept responsibility for his actions.

“Recently, Leyan, a player of the League of Legends branch of the Invictus Gaming E-Sports Club, made inappropriate words and deeds many times during the live broadcast, which caused extensive discussions on the Internet and adverse effects,” Invictus Gaming said in a statement (via VGC).

For their part, the now-suspended League of Legends player went to Wiebo and said that it wasn’t actually humping but excited hugging. Jue said the bear’s cuteness and music in his ears made it seem like he was doing inappropriate things with the toy. Regardless of what happened, it seems like the suspension will stay and Jue won’t be able to play the game professionally for a while.

“It’s not what people think, the bear was too big, the song was rocking in the headphones. I just simply think the bear is cute, I was hugging it and rocking a little bit,” Jue responded.

Unless Riot changes their mind, Jue won’t be able to play League of Legends professionally until late June. While a bit much, this also could have been a lot worse and Jue will have time to play again. This goes to show how hard it can be to have a job as an eSports player.
