Marvel Rivals is doing everything right thus far, not only offering a great roster of heroes and villains, but also basing levels on settings from the comics. Developer NetEase has revealed Spider-Islands, a new area set in Tokyo 2099 that promises plenty of Spider-Verse shenanigans for upcoming Marvel players.
According to the latest tweet from NetEase, Spider-Islands is set above the streets of Tokyo 2099 and it has a very Japanese aesthetic. From the beautiful buildings to the trees, it’s clearly one of the best-looking stages in the game and fans are excited to check it out.
Luckily, it looks like Marvel Rivals is going to give players a chance to try this stage out, as this reveal has fans thinking it will appear in the July beta. While that hasn’t been officially confirmed, the timing of this stage does have many players thinking this is going to happen. If not, it’s a pretty mean tease, though we’re sure most players won’t mind waiting for the finished game to try it out.
This looks like another good stage in this free-to-play shooter and we’re sure plenty of Spider-Verse fans are going to check it out. Since Spider-Man and Venom have already been confirmed for the shooter, they should make this stage even more exciting. Miles Morales and Peni Parker are also in the shooter, giving players even more of those Spider-Verse vibes.
Only time will tell if Marvel Rivals ends up being a quality shooter or just another free-to-play title in the market, with everyone hoping for the former. Nobody knew that they wanted a Marvel version of Overwatch until now and this game will give it to them. Hopefully, some of those powers from the beta have been nerfed, because some heroes are just too strong right now.
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play shooter coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC soon. There’s no release date yet, though the beta does come out next month.
