Metroid Prime 4 will be a completely different experience on Nintendo Switch 2. The company announced during the Switch 2 Direct that an enhanced version will let players enjoy the game at 120FPS.
The Switch 2 is a powerful machine. The dock is able to output at 4K, and even handheld it boasts a 1080p display. Those looking to play Metroid Prime 4 on the go will be happy to hear 120FPS will also be available in handheld.
In short, Prime 4 will have both a Quality and Performance modes. In quality, the game will be displayed at 4K and running at 60FPS docked, and 1080p in handheld. In performance, it will hit 4K and 120FPS docked, again, locked at 1080p in handheld mode.
One thing worth noting is that the Switch 2 upgrades aren't free for games previously released. However, there was no mention of this for Metroid Prime 4, which is a game yet to be released. It's set to come out at some point this year, as no date has been confirmed.
Some of the other games getting the upgrade treatment are Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom.
Sadly for og Nintendo Switch users, the best way to enjoy the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4 will be by upgrading to the latest hardware when it launches this June.
