Breakdown
- MultiVersus will include some much-needed single-player content at launch
- Rifts will give players battles, mini-games, and bosses
- This mode can also be played with others as a PvE mode
MultiVersus has been primarily advertised as a multiplayer fighter, so it’s good that Warner Bros. has started showing off the game’s single-player modes. There will always be a small section of fighting game fans who like having single-player content, so this is a good idea.
Rifts are a new mode in the game that will have players taking part in various battles, which they can do by themselves (via IGN). While this is also a PvE mode that can have a number of players taking each other out, it can also be played solo.
Players will have their hands full with this MultiVersus mode, as they also have to partake in mini-games and optional goals while playing these Rifts. Some of them will be a mini-game where you use a cannon to blast balloons, while others are straight up boss encounters. The variety should have gamers playing this mode for hours, assuming each fight is fun.
Fans are interested in seeing what other single-player modes the game has, especially since this is a free-to-play platform fighter. It wouldn’t be too surprising if Warner Bros. announced new modes players will have to pay for, but this is fine for those playing free.
Now that MultiVersus is weeks away from releasing, fans are interested in seeing what else the fighter has to offer. There’s already a ton of characters trading blows in the game, from Batman to Steven Universe, with the Joker coming to the game as part of Season 1. We’ve also seen The Powerpuff Girls teased for the fighter, which has a lot of Cartoon Network fans excited.
Considering how long this game was out, it will be interesting to see if player interest will be high for the game’s first season. A steady flow of new characters, modes, and events would keep fan interest, but we’ll have to wait and see.
MultiVersus is officially launching on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC on May 28.
