The next Ghost Recon game is slowly coming together. According to Tom Henderson, the next installment in the franchise is moving to an internal Alpha phase that will likely last around 12 months.

Henderson stated via Insider Gaming that the upcoming, unannounced Ghost Recon game is set to move to the internal Alpha phase this Fall. This could mean Ubisoft plans to unveil it and possibly even release it late in 2026 if all things go according to plan.

In 2024, Insider Gaming received footage of the game, which was not made public. Henderson described it as a mix of Modern Warfare with tactical shooter Ready or Not.

Ubisoft has a lot of projects in the oven after a turbulent period with high-profile bombs like Star Wars Outlaws jeopardizing the company's stability. A recent investment by Tencent, which will help fund a Ubisoft subsidiary focused on Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, is a step in the right direction.

Breakpoint was a disaster for Ubisoft

The studio is also close to releasing (hopefully) the highly anticipated and extremely delayed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. Alongside a new Ghost Recon game, Ubisoft seems poised for a comeback if they manage to stick the landing on both projects.

Ubisoft has had a rough time trying to deliver a satisfying Ghost Recon experience in recent years. In 2022, the company announced they were canceling the free-to-play PvP Frontline. Both Breakpoint (2019) and Wildlands (2017) failed to impress gamers, with Breakpoint in particular failing in the sales department as well unlike Wildlands, which was still a commercial success despite its criticisms.

Hopefully, for tactical shooter and Ghost Recon fans, Ubisoft has managed to go back to the drawing board and is able to deliver an experience for fans that fully satisfies them as their the margin for error is smaller than it has ever been.
