Nobuo Uematsu agrees to compose opening theme for the third Final Fantasy VII game

Nobuo Uematsu is a legendary music composer in the gaming industry, so fans will be happy to know that he will return for the third Final Fantasy VII Remake installment. Uematsu worked on the opening themes for Remake and Rebirth, so it’s only fitting that he caps off this trilogy by also making the third game’s opening.

Speaking with Remake and Rebirth creative director Tetsuya Nomura on the Square Enix music channel, Uematsu agreed to make the third game’s opening theme. This came after the two discussed working on the opening themes of both games, with Nomura playfully asking if Uematsu would return for the third game.

Uematsu said “it’d be my honour” to Nomura, confirming that he will compose the opening theme for the third Final Fantasy VII Remake installment. The legendary composer joked that he would take a vacation first, but it seems he will indeed finish what he started with this trilogy.

Prior to this, Uematsu actually said that his career was almost finished, stating that he can no longer compose full games. However, Uematsu did say that he was still working on some Final Fantasy themes, saying he can still contribute some music, just not all. That’s a more than fair decision, given how many masterpieces Uematsu has made for the gaming industry.

Fans can say what they want about the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, with some not enjoying the meta narrative, but the music has been excellent thus far. While a lot of that has to do with nostalgia, even newbies would enjoy how good the music is, though anyone who has played the PS1 classic will enjoy it ten times more.
