Even during the first Overwatch days, fans have been talking about the game going mobile, and while it is available on Nintendo Switch, it’s possible that there could be a version of OW that’s going to be playable on your phone.

As it turns out, Blizzard is teaming up with another developer with the goal of adapting a mobile version of their hero shooter.

Yes, Overwatch 3 Is Real

MTN (via VGC) reports that Blizzard has teamed up with Nexon (The Finals, Blue Archive) to develop a mobile version of Overwatch as well as a new StarCraft game. The report says:

“Blizzard has been bidding since the fourth quarter of the last year for major Korean game companies, offering content development rights using the ‘Starcraft’ IP and the Korean and Japanese service rights for ‘Overwatch Mobile‘ as a package deal.”

What’s interesting is that Overwatch Mobile is also said to be referred to internally as Overwatch 3 by the developers, and it’s possible that it could be somehow related to the current version of the game, which is expected to keep going on despite the development being done on OW Mobile.

While Overwatch has definitely made a name for itself being a hero shooter, it’s very possible that it could go mobile with a few more tweaks. After all, there are already plenty of FPS games that play quite well on mobile; just add a bit of the Overwatch flair and charm to a game, and Nexon will probably have a successful shooter on their hands.

With Marvel Rivals only being available for new-gen consoles and PC, Overwatch still has the upper hand in being available for PS4 and Xbox One users as well; now add a mobile version of the game, and they could see potential growth for their player base.

What about the StarCraft Game?

While no news has been said about the StarCraft game, it had been mentioned months ago by insider Jason Schreier that there was a StarCraft shooter incubating over at Blizzard. With StarCraft being one of their bigger brands, it would make sense that they would make a package deal to give the license to a developer who would also be working on Overwatch 3.

As of now though, Overwatch 3/Overwatch Mobile hasn’t been officially announced. Overwatch 2 is now playable for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and PC.
