Pokémon GO has been going on for eight years, showing that this mobile app is still a huge part of the fandom and isn’t a fad. Speaking of huge, the game’s celebratory art shows that a really big feature could be coming soon and it will make plenty of fans happy.

Based on the art released by the app’s website, it seems that the Dynamax feature will soon be added to the game. This means that certain Pokémon will be enormous and it might take multiple trainers to stop them in battle.

Dynamax was a feature introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, which let trainers turn their adorable critters into massive (and still cute) kaiju. Some Pokémon even have unique Dynamax forms like Charizard, Pikachu, and the Galar starters’ final evolutions. We also alluded to the wild Dynamax Pokémon, giant Pokémon that require four trainers to beat them, which is how the multiplayer Raid Battles take place.

Now that Pokémon GO is adding the Dynamax feature from Sword and Shield, we imagine that more Pokémon from Galar will be coming as well. The mobile app has done a good job of trickling in more of these creatures to keep players excited.

Fan reaction to this should be interesting since Sword and Shield received a mixed reaction at launch, since it didn’t add the National Pokédex. Mobile gamers also have mixed feelings towards the GO app since it prioritized pay-to-win players over those who were grinding for free. Some amends have been made to try and appeal to these angry fans, but the stench of greed is always there.

Regardless of all that, the Dynamax feature should keep Pokémon GO fresh for years to come. While no release date for the feature was added, players can expect some sort of big event to set things into motion. Niantic did this before when it added the Shadow Pokémon from the Gamecube Coliseum titles, so they’ll do the same for this Dynamax mechanic.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices. The app is a free download, though fans can buy in-game items with real money.
