Pokémon Go fans suffer from XP 'theft' bug

A Pokemon Go player recently got a 0 XP payout despite getting the best friends achievement because of a XP theft bug Niantic still hasn't addressed.

When you achieve best friend status with another player in Pokemon GO, you receive 50,000 XP normally and 100,000 XP with a Lucky Egg. However, if the other player removes you from their friends list, as some people tend to do, you get a 0 XP notification instead.

Obviously this is incredibly frustrating as it can take a while to get but it's a lot more common than you might think. Lots of trainers shared similar experiences under the post and the community rallied together in anger against the users who are in too much of a rush to delete others.

While most players complained about the people who were in too much of a rush to delete others, some players blamed the developers Niantic instead.

"What’s stopping niantic from fixing this issue. Both should get the xp regardless if one deleted the other. Why would only one person get it. Makes no sense." said one player.

Another voiced their confusion at the bug as it should be a very easy to fix issue.

"There is no reason why this should still be occurring. This appears to be a very fixable issue that is just being ignored. Yes, the other trainer should absolutely not delete the friend so soon. At the same time, shame on Niantic for allowing this to continue to be an issue.

Once the friendship level increases, the XP should be pushed to both players immediately whether they are online or offline and should appear in the journal."

If you have consistent Best Friends in Pokemon Go, count yourself lucky as you don't have to deal with this sort of behaviour from fellow players. Hopefully Niantic sees the outrage and pushes out a fix.

The company behind the incredibly successful Pokemon Go has been under a lot of scrutiny recently due to their frequent mess-ups, apologies, and live raid mismanagement. The fake deals they rolled out recently don't help their case either.
