Pokémon Let’s Go Gold and Silver said to be the Switch’s swansong exclusives

The last Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch may be casual remakes of the series’ beloved Johto region. Allegedly dubbed Pokémon Let’s Go Wooper and Togepi, the new games will reportedly return to the Pikachu and Eevee style of gameplay.

While the Pokémon series is also said to be returning to Unova with remakes of Black and White, those games may be kept for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Via Reddit, a recent 4Chan post claims that Pokémon Let’s Go Wooper and Let’s Go Togepi are planned to capitalise on the two creatures’ high popularity in Japan. Over the last few years, The Pokémon Company has heavily prioritised the two creatures in merch lines. In fact, Wooper even received a new form in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Just like Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, the new Pokémon games will be more relaxed remakes of the Gold and Silver games. Allegedly, this also includes the original games’ Kanto post-game, largely recycling Pikachu and Eevee’s maps to essentially double up on content.

Additionally, the new games will reportedly launch with a new version of the Pokéball Plus accessory. This time a recreation of the anime’s GS ball, the accessory will allow players to catch the legendary Pokémon Celebi at the Ilex Forest shrine.

The new games are also said to feature a return to the Pokémon Amie feature first introduced in the 3DS games X and Y. This game mode allows you to interact with your Pokémon, feed them and pet them. While you could do this with your title Pokémon in the debut Let’s Go games, you couldn’t with any other creatures.

While the original Let’s Go games were heavily criticised by fans, they quickly became beloved entries in the series. Focusing on quick battles, catching creatures and shiny hunting, the new, casual formula was an interesting spin-off idea. It certainly wouldn’t do any harm to continue the sub-series into the future.

Pokémon Let’s Go Wooper and Let’s Go Togepi have not been officially announced by The Pokémon Company or Game Freak. However, considering the popularity of the first spin-off, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them announced later this year.
