Fans of the Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption series will have something to celebrate this fall, as the original game officially arrives on PC for the first time on October 29. Developed in collaboration with Double Eleven (Grounded, Fallout 76, Minecraft Dungeons), the PC remaster will introduce several enhancements.
The recently released trailer offers a preview of the upgraded visuals of the fictional American Frontier. You can check out the trailer here.
The remastered edition will feature native 4K resolution with support for up to 144Hz on compatible systems. Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9) monitor compatibility will further enhance the visual experience of John Marston’s journey.
Players can also expect HDR10 support and full keyboard and mouse functionality. This makes it easier for PC players to tinker and customize their preferred playstyle, especially when modding becomes a big deal in the game’s future.
The remaster also incorporates advanced features such as NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.0, and NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, along with adjustable settings for draw distances and shadow quality. While these don’t make sense for the casual gamer, these technical improvements will appeal to those seeking to push their hardware to its maximum potential.
Alongside Red Dead Redemption, their zombie-themed expansion, Undead Nightmare, will also be released with similar enhancements.
While both titles are already available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox, the PC version takes it a step further due to its visual and quality-of-life updates. Despite the lack of similar upgrades on the other platforms, the game remains a pivotal title that shaped the open-world genre and laid the foundation for the success of its prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2.
The absence of a price tag means this could share the price point of the console versions. It was recently launched at $49.99, so expect the PC version to cost the same.
This release is the perfect time for players to get inside the life and times of John Marston, an important character we’re all familiar with from Red Dead Redemption 2. His story continues as this Remaster occurs years after his time with the Van Der Linde gang.
The Red Dead Redemption PC release, as well as Undead Nightmare, will come out on October 29. It will be available on the Rockstar Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
