The upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake is still in development at Polish games studio Bloober Team. While the studio has been silent on the progress of its anticipated horror remake, the team has announced it’s still working on the game.
Revealed just over a year ago, Silent Hill 2 Remake is a full recreation of the iconic PlayStation 2 psychological horror game. The title is expected to have revitalised combat, alongside its new voice work and obviously spruced up visual.
After a year of silence, Bloober Team took to Twitter to reassure fans that the Silent Hill game is still in development at the studio. With publisher Konami’s history of scrapping projects relating to the series, many fans have been worried about the state of the remake.
In the statement, Bloober Team said: “On behalf of our development team, we would like to clarify that the production is progressing smoothly and in accordance with our schedule. We understand that many players around the world are eagerly anticipating news about the game, and we appreciate your dedication.”
Bloober Team explained that the game’s publisher Konami is responsible for new announcements, trailers and the like. The developer asked fans for some more “patience” in regards to new information about the horror game, as well as hyping up the video game remake.
“We are confident that the wait will be worthwhile,” the development studio said. “Thank you for your understanding and support!”
Despite the statement from Bloober Team, a large number of fans aren’t sold on the remake project. Alongside the developer’s history of poorly executed Silent Hill clones — such as The Medium and Layers of Fear — recent leaks have revealed numerous potential aspects of the remake that most fans are not into in the slightest.
For example, one leak claimed that the game will feature a playable origin story for Pyramid Head, the franchise’s over marketed villain. For those who have played the original Silent Hill 2, the existence of an origin story for the terrifying villain doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
While many have expected Silent Hill 2 Remake to release sometime in 2024, there is no official release date for the horror game at the time of writing.
