Konami showed off a brand-new look at Silent Hill f. Fans were not disappointed, as this could be another incredible experience following last year's Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Alongside the trailer showcased during the Silent Hill Transmission stream, a full description of the game's setting went online as well as the Steam page. Silent Hill f is set in 1960's Japan, as the country continues to recover from the aftermath of World War 2, a small, secluded town named Ebisugaoka is consumed by a sudden fog.
Protagonist Hinako will have to navigate the thick fog, the dangers it hides, and complete puzzles to find a way for this threat to stop endangering Ebisugaoka.
Silent Hill f features some interesting names overseeing key aspects of the horror game. The story was crafted by Ryukishi07, a popular Japanese writer who penned the story for the critically acclaimed visual novel Higurashi When They Cry. Furthermore, legendary composer Akira Yamaoka is on board. Yamaoka was responsible for the music in many games within the franchise, including the iconic themes of Silent Hill 2 and its remake, which was nominated for Best Score at the 2024 The Game Awards.
The trailer gives off that classic Silent Hill vibe. It isn't a jumpscare-filled, cheesy take on horror. It looks like Konami really wants to show off the eeriness of what made the franchise so unique in a whole new setting, one that hits close to home for the company.
Despite barely depicting the horrors hidden in the dense fog surrounding Hinako's town, the sense of dread players will face in Silent Hill f is clearly palpable. And that can only be a positive sign, even if fans are still wary that Konami might find a way to screw this project up.
The game is being developed by NeoBards Entertainment. The studio is more popularly known for working alongside Capcom in several remakes and collections, including Dead Rising Deluxe and Mega Man: Battle Network Legacy Collection. They also developed Resident Evil: Resistance.
Silent Hill f sadly still does not have a release date. We do know it's planned for release on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam, Epic Game Store, and Windows).
