Star Wars Outlaws will be coming later this year and it seems that most gamers will be able to finish it without a hitch. Even completionists will have a breeze with this open-world game, as Ubisoft has seemingly learned from bloating their Assassin’s Creed games.

Creative director Julian Gerighty told VGC that most fans will be able to finish Outlaws in under 30 hours, which is the perfect amount of time for a game. Those who want to find everything will only have to double that time, as Gerighty said 100% completion will only take 50 to 60 hours.

“Very, very early on, we decided this is going to be a 25, 30 hours golden path adventure, 50 hours, 60 hours for completionists, and that is, for a guy with a family and a job, it’s still a fair amount of time,” Gerighty said. “But it’s not an Assassin's Creed epic, 200 hours’ worth of gameplay, so that allows us to really focus on the detail, it allows us to focus, maybe with a smaller team, on executing something that is manageable.”

Gerighty also talked about some of the content cut from Star Wars Outlaws, revealing that swimming won’t be a part of this open-world game. That’s also something you couldn’t do in the early Assassin’s Creed games, but we’ll give them some slack since people don’t associate Star Wars with swimming.

It seems that Ubisoft is starting to become more self-aware about the bloat of their open-world games. That’s probably why Assassin’s Creed Mirage focused on stealth again, while the recent Prince of Persia releases have been acclaimed 2D games.

Star Wars Outlaws could be something special, since this is the first game in the franchise set in an open-world. Hopefully, the main narrative is worth sitting through, and it doesn’t suffer from the nostalgia bait seen in the more recent Star Wars releases.

Fans will be able to pick up Star Wars Outlaws on August 30 for the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
