Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League won’t be getting a ton of support from developer Rocksteady after the game bombed in sales. While there will be some post-launch support for the live-service looter shooter, fans expecting anything substantive are going to be very disappointed.
Bloomberg’s extensive report on the live-service shooter’s failure revealed that the game won’t be getting a lot of support from here on out. A fan on Twitter asked reporter Jason Schreier if the shooter would stop getting support, with the journalist saying that it would only get “barebones support” from here on out.
It seems that anyone hoping for a major Suicide Squad expansion pack where they fight even more villains/heroes in the multiverse should temper their expectations. Rocksteady reportedly had plans to expand on this game’s story even more, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. Only time will tell if they will attempt to wrap up this story or just coast along till it dies like Marvel’s Avengers did.
There were plans to introduce more characters to the game and they could still happen if the publishers allow it. Gaming insiders have said that Killer Croc and Deathstroke are going to debut as DLC heroes, alongside original characters like Mrs. Freeze making an appearance. Only time will tell if those characters will renew some interest in the looter shooter, though we doubt that’s going to happen.
While there were some fans excited for it, most of us knew that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League wasn’t going to do well in today’s market. Even the developers at Rocksteady knew that this game wouldn’t do too well, but the publishers were confident in this title making billions for them.
Our review for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was actually pretty positive, as we praised some of the gameplay mechanics and story. However, it’s clear that most gamers didn’t feel the same way, with the game doing terribly in sales. Needless to say, we’re glad Rocksteady is pitching a new single-player game.
