Nine years after the announcement of the Nintendo Switch in March 2015, Nintendo is set to announce its new console this month, according to rumors.

Speculations revolving around meetings with Nintendo and several developers over the past few days and a confirmed Switch 2 release of a game sequel made fans think that a Switch 2 announcement is imminent.

More rumors from a manufacturing facility in China indicate that all roads lead to the Switch 2 announcement sometime this September.

My Time At Portia developer Pathea Games has confirmed that the latest entry to the My Time franchise, My Time at Evershine, will be available on the Switch 2.

Limited Rush Games CEO Josh Fairhurst also posted on X that cemented speculations about Nintendo’s meetings with developers.

Meanwhile, on Reddit, certain rumors about how the Switch 2 is being manufactured in China state that it will have a bigger screen size than the original Switch, along with a thinner bezel and black-and-white Joy-Con. The Switch 2 logo will also be bigger, with the number “2” on the side. The leak also indicates that the Switch 2 may have better SD card capabilities while the console’s backward compatibility is still unknown.

Many reactions from the community are all over the internet, with some fans saying that Nintendo must get the name for the Switch 2 right, as the naming convention for the Wii U caused confusion among consumers.

Andy Robinson of VGC has also shared a post on X stating Nintendo’s history of announcing a Nintendo Direct every September since 2017, implying that the company might announce a Nintendo Direct, which will release details of the Switch 2 soon.

Recent announcements, such as the upcoming closure of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and the end of Splatoon 3’s regular updates, indicate that developers may prepare these franchises for the upcoming Switch 2.

The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released next week, and Nintendo fans will still have time to finish the new Zelda game before the release of the Switch 2. Other popular IPs, such as Pokemon, will release a new game in 2025, possibly for the Switch 2.
