Space Marine Is Getting A Remaster Coming To Game Pass In Less Than a Month

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is getting a remake and coming to Xbox Game Pass day one. The remaster will be available on both Xbox Series and PC, launching on June 10.

The remaster was the final surprise of the Warhammer Skulls 2025, where several projects involving the franchise were announced. Of course, the remaster of a beloved third-person shooter took the spotlight this year.

Space Marine was originally released back in 2011. Developed by Relic Entertainment and published by THQ originally (now SEGA), it received generally positive reviews but was hardly setting the gaming community on fire. Still, it developed a cult following that answered the call when Space Marine 2 became a smash hit in 2024. The game sold over 4.5 million copies in its first month after release.

Due to the overwhelming success, the spin-off series is now set to have a third game, with Space Marine 2 publisher Focus Entertainment quickly greenlighting the project, making it the perfect time to revisit the one that started it all via Game Pass.

The remastered version of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine was developed by SneakyBox, a studio focused on remastering titles. It will boast plenty of shiny bells and whistles like 4K resolution, modernized controls, a complete UI overhaul, and improved character models with remastered audio to top it all off.

It's certainly been a fantastic year for Game Pass and its user base. From the start of 2025 with Avowed, moving onto massive day-one releases like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and indie GOTY contenders Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, to FPS with Doom: The Dark Ages, and even beloved titles from previous years like Metaphor: ReFantazio being added to the fold, it looks like Xbox finally has something going for them at the moment.

Space Marine 2 did not debut on Game Pass. Could this deal mean that the upcoming third entry will join the service day one? Only time will tell.
