WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley just cut a fancy promo advertising Fortnite. The video has sent fans into a frenzy, asking Epic Games to add the wrestler to the game as a skin.
Shared via Rhea's social media, the Australian performer promoted Fortnite OG Season 2. A throwback season that runs parallel to the ongoing Chapter 6 Season 2 content, OG Season 2 serves as a throwback to the early years of Epic's battle royale. The concept was first introduced as a one-time special mini-season and has since been fleshed out into its own permanent mode.
Epic Games and WWE are no strangers to crossovers. Several WWE wrestlers, including John Cena, Bianca Belair, and Becky Lynch, are skins in the battle royale.
It was widely rumored that both companies were working on a collaboration earlier in the year. On January 6, during WWE's debut on Netflix and Monday Night Raw's premiere, the Fortnite logo was seen smack dab in the middle of the wrestling mat.
Naturally, the Rhea Ripley promo video only fueled fans' hopes of seeing her, or any other WWE Superstar, join the battle royale.
For various reasons, a new wave of Fortnite x WWE skins would make perfect sense. First, we're in the middle of the WrestleMania season, which is very important for the company as it will be the first live broadcast via Netflix.
Epic Games knows how to leverage Fortnite as a platform to promote content outside the game. We've seen several companies use the battle royale to drop teasers for upcoming music, such as Snoop Dogg, or even Dragon Ball broadcasting episodes from within the game to attract new fans, just to name a couple of examples.
A Rhea Ripley skin would be a massive way to promote WWE and WrestleMania in Fortnite. She's perhaps one of the biggest stars in the company at the moment, and as current WWE Women's World Champion, she'll certainly play a big part in this year's grandest stage of them all.
