Yuji Naka accuses Dragon Quest producer Yu Miyake of lying and forging evidence

Yuji Naka has made some very serious allegations, claiming that departing Dragon Quest producer Yu Miyake of lying and falsifying evidence against him. Naka was sentenced to 30 months in prison last year, but recently returned to Twitter just to make that statement.

On Twitter (via VGC), the Sonic co-creator said that he was happy Miyake was leaving Square Enix, hoping that the person who takes his place is better. In addition to that, Naka also said that Miyake was someone who would lie and forge evidence against someone. Naturally, this has fans wondering if Naka was set up as a fall guy for his arrest last year.

“Finally. I was hoping he would be gone soon because he is the kind of person who would submit a note with a lie (with evidence) to a court of law,” Naka accused. “I have never met him, but the new [Square Enix] president might be a good person.”

It will be interesting to see if Yuji Naka has more to say about the incident, though only time will tell if more information ever gets released. All we know is that Naka pled guilty to insider trading when Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest game for mobile phones. The Sonic and Balan Wonderworld director reportedly did this twice, hence, his heavy jail sentences.

As for Yu Miyake, the Dragon Quest producer was re-assigned a new role in Square Enix after the mysterious Dragon Quest 12 received numerous delays. This is reportedly part of a wider restructuring in Square Enix, though the lack of news regarding DQ 12 seemed to have play a part. Square Enix said that the 12th game would have a darker tone and change the combat system, but nothing else has been revealed.

Yuji Naka worked on the critically panned Balan Wonderworld for Square Enix before his arrest, where Miyake was credited as executive officer. Naka has since said that certain parts of the game were made against his wishes, but couldn’t clarify the details, likely due to legality issues.
