It isn’t long now until the full, worldwide release of Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds arrives. For now, let us prepare by having a look at the Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds classes and characters.
The wonderful world of Ni No Kuni is back with a fresh cast of friendly faces for us to adventure with. The five different characters each have their own specialities, backstories, and classes. They each find themselves as a mystical fighter during their beta test of the in-game title Soul Divers - it's all a bit meta, but we're very excited for the full release of this Studio Ghibli-inspired game.
While we count down to the release on May 25, check out our pages for everything you need to know about Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds, and keep an eye on our codes page too. Or, if you're looking for another gacha game, try the new dystopian strategy hit Dislyte.
What Are the Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds Classes?
There are five Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds classes for you to choose from. Unlike the other entries in the series, this game allows you to pick which type of fighter you’d like to use. The options are two different attackers (the Swordman and the Witch), a support, a healer, and a tank. The Destroyer is the tank, Rogue is the support, and the Engineer is Cross Worlds' healer.
Unfortunately, there is no way to change a character's class - they are assigned to specific classes and must stay that way. However, you can use the different characters yourself, so can make use of all their skills.
In terms of which class you can have in your party, or at your disposal, there is only one class that has multiple characters: the two attackers. This may change if more fighters arrive in the future.
Can You Customise Your Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds Characters?
Another change from previous games in the series is that the characters are customisable - and not just by changing their clothes.
When you first choose your class, you can update the appearance of the chosen character. This includes their eye colour, hair colour and style, skin tone, and the colour of basic early-game outfits. Oh, and you get to name them too, as the five characters don't have names attached to them.
There will be a large selection of costumes for all five characters to wear, all of which you can gain from the gacha system. So far, we've seen outfits like a Barbarian-themed set, fancy 1920s cut suits, and even a cowboy outfit for the Swordman.
Confirmed Ni No Kuni: Cross World Characters
The five main characters were revealed a while ago now, and we know a fair bit about each of them. We'll give a quick rundown of each character's strengths and weapon type here.
The Swordman
The Swordsman is a busy office worker who turns into a sword-wielding fighter in the fantasy Ni No Kuni realm. His application to the Soul Divers was sent to break the boredom of his work life. He can use many different one-handed weapons with great speed and finesse.
The Witch
The Witch is a devious and brilliant-minded individual in both the real world and in Ni No Kuni - hence her transformation into a powerful magic wielder. She is an attacker, and she starts off using a magical spear. She is a humanoid character but has cat ears as a result of being a Grimalkin hybrid.
The Rogue
Cross World's Rogue character is a young boy who turns into a human-Grimalkin hybrid in the Ni No Kuni world. He uses ranged weapons, such as a bow and arrows, and acts as a support character. Despite his youth, he is very talented and impresses with his performance in Soul Divers.
The Engineer
The Engineer acts as the party's healer, despite their affinity for weaponry. The Engineer is super smart and signed up to the Soul Divers game to satiate her desire for learning. She will attack while healing, and she uses a range of weapons - preferring firearms like her early-game rifle.
The Destroyer
Wielding a huge hammer, the Destroyer is a powerful tank character. Despite his large and formidable look in the fantasy world, he works as a florist in the real world. This gentle giant can - and will - smash any enemies with ease.
